Estes Park Turkeys

Yes, as strange as it may seem, Estes Park does have its very own flock of wild turkeys. I thought I'd include a couple of shots of these beautiful wild birds for you Thanksgiving enjoyment.

Here is wishing you all a lot to be thankful for this year, and blessings for next year.
Jesus stands proudly at the West end of Elkhorn Avenue in Estes Park Colorado. The twenty foot Icon has proudly graced the West end of Elkhorn Avenue in Estes Park Colorado for over fifty years.
Buell Porter constructed, painted, and donated the figure to the town along with many other figures for Christmas in the 50's. Buell was a retired Coca Cola sign painter. In the 40's and 50's even early 60's the technology for a "Billboard" was to have a sign painter get on a ladder and paint it. Upon retirement to Estes Park, Buell decided to pep up the town a little bit with his work.

Jesus is showing some wear and tear, and will probably be retired this year. Upon retirement he will be donated to the Estes Park Historical Museum. Don't worry, there will be a new Icon to replace the older one at the West end of town.
Originally the figure was put up for Easter, and later became part of the Christmas scenes placed throughout the community. Every year Estes Park is the home of the famous Christmas Parade which is held the day after Thanksgiving at 5:30 PM.
This year as in many years past, Jesus will be looking down upon the crowds and the parade from the West end of Elkhorn Avenue.
The National Association of Realtors Convention in San Diego was very good this year. There were many new technologies that were unveiled at the convention as well as a lot of very good classes. It is always a good experience getting to go to sunny California, meeting new people, learning new things, but there is no place like home. I'm looking forward to getting back to my little corner of the world.

NAR is a terrific place to network with other realtors from throughout the "Realtor" network. You would think that there would be 50 state representation at NAR. It is so much more than that. One of the classes I attended approximately 40% of the attendees were from other countries. It is truly amazing to be able to talk to agents from as many foreign countries as you can imagine that are interested in having their customers purchase properties in the United States.
It is nice to be able to walk along the docs and see the boats in thier slips, but I'm looking forward to seeing elk in my front yard again.
I was next door visiting my Beautiful Bride at her Hallmark store when one of her customers said "you have to come outside and see this". I'm sure that some of you get kind of tired of the sunrise and sunset pictures.
When you live here however you never tire of seeing the wonders of the mountains. The exciting thing for me is that rich or poor, young or old the price is the same. You just have to stop for a moment.
Have a great weekend
Third time's a charm. The Estes Park and Estes Valley fire district finally passed voters approval. Carolyn Dietz is pictured doing a "Victory Dance" on the roof of her home in the Big Thompson Canyon. Carolyn is removing the sign that she had on the side of her home in support of the Fire District.
When Gerald Mayo was talking to Carolyn this morning she thought that a week was long enough to "Gloat" and it was probably time to take the sign down.
Congratulations to all who live outside the town of Estes Park that now have fire protection.
