The upside of the housing collapse, is that My dog, Elvis, whom I rescued at Animal Rescue Foundation in Walnut Creek, was a foreclosure dog. Almost all of the dogs came from the San Joaquin Valley, where they were abandoned by their owners, who could no longer stay in their homes.
Every time I look at him, I can't stop thinking how he is the embodiment of an Option ARM, or a Stated Income loan. It is hard to believe that people would just abandon their pets, but there ya go!
I wish Elvis could tell me a little about the family that set him free, to fend for himself, not even trying to find a home for him. I gotta tell you, this is one cute little dog. there has to same craziness happening to do that to this little guy. When he ended up at ARF, he was all matted down and dirty, yet through his ordeal, he remained a cheerful little dog.
I know that times are tough, but if you're going to walk away from a home, don't just set you pet free. take hin to a nice shelter.

If dogs could buy and sell houses, would you want to work with them? I know there would be a few problems: "Hey Fido, when are you going to get those tax docs to the lender?" "What do you mean you buried them in the yard, and can't remember where?"
"Rover, I know we're looking for a house with a carpet that smells like urine, but we won't know until we go into the house, will we?"
" I know you're a loyal client, but I'm sick of throwing the tennis ball, already"
"Is my paw print a valid signiture?"
" My agent says that $100,000 is a steal, but in DOG MONEY, that's $700,000, which seems a tad high."
"No, Spot, you can't pee on the rug until we close escrow"
In spite of the problems, you wouldn't find a more loyal client than a dog. You'd never need a Buyer-Broker" agreement. A dog is your client for life. How many of your human clients can you say that about.
UP WITH DOGGIES!

All our friends are getting dogs. We feel like our dog, Elvis, is creating a demand. He's just so cute, and full of fun, that is is contagious.
It could be that in these trying economic times, that alot of folks are going back to the times in their lives when, things were simple, and a family dog was something that says "home."
Anyway, It is gratifying to see our friends getting on board. We will see all of them at Hap Magee Dog Park in Danville, which by the way, if you haven't taken your doggie there, you don't know what a terrific community resource it is.
