Once again Moody's Economy has good things to say about Tacoma Real Estate. Exit 133 is reporting on their story about our appreciation rate this year. It is always nice to be noticed. You might remember this story from last Spring... Tacoma's Real Estate Market sure has been getting a lot of attention lately.
The folks at Moody’s have once again put Tacoma on one of their lists. Last year we made the Best Real Estate Market and the Most Likely to Rebound lists. Now, at the beginning of 2010, we are the predicted to be the top performing real estate market in the country this year.
Check out the story at Exit 133. For more information on Tacoma Real Estate check out my Blog Get Real Tacoma.

This report was put out by Moodys based on information in the Case-Shiller Index.

Source: Fiserv, Moody’s Economy.com I live in Tacoma and I love this city. Nothing would make me happier than seeing that kind of appreciation. Regardless of how much stock you put in the Case-Shiller Index, it's great to see good things said about Tacoma. Go back and look, I didn't see the word "Seattle" anywhere in that article...

The President of the Washington Realtors, Greg Wright just shared this interesting article on Facebook. I know, he's so hip! Answering criticisms that all of the relief for the housing and economic crisis have been targeted at big banks and other large corporations, lawmakers are working on a bill that would make it possible for buyers to apply their $8,000 tax credit to their downpayment. The proposal would make a federal tax credit for first-time homebuyers go farther by allowing it to be put toward the actual home purchase. A provision of the federal stimulus package offers a credit of up to $8,000 to buyers who haven't owned a home in the past three years -- buyers must also have incomes of no more than $75,000 for an individual or $150,000 for a married couple to qualify -- but it's a refundable credit. In other words, you don't get the money until weeks or months after the home purchase has closed. A budget proviso authored by the state Treasurer's Office and pushed by Sen. Steve Hobbs (D-Lake Stevens) and the state Realtors would set up a mechanism to get the tax-credit money to buyers at closing, removing the lack of a sufficient down payment as an obstacle.
This is really exciting news. The article goes on to talk about how the state will be ensuring that they get their money- but I thought this was interesting: The state Realtors would put up $400,000 as security against unforeseen losses.
Now I know why my Realtor Dues are so high. Ah well, that's a good use for them!

South Sound Eats is reporting that Sea Grill, owned by Seattle's Mackay Group (they own the very fancy El Goucho) will be closing it's doors at the end of this weekend.
I'm never happy to see a restaurant close downtown, and I'm sorry to see them go. For anyone looking for a great place to replace it- I recommend Pacific Grill across the street. Their dinners are excellent, but honestly, I spend most of my time working my way through their extensive happy hour menu. You can get 2 glasses of good red wine and a plate of Pasta Arrabiata for under $20.
If you would like to support Mackay Group's efforts in Tacoma, El Gaucho has a pretty great happy hour also, offering affordable deliciousness from 4-6pm & 10pm-Close.

The News Tribune blog has a great article today about my very favorite lunch spot, Infinite Soups. To celebrate their anniversary they will be giving customers free cupcakes from Corina Bakery. Um. Yeah. I'll totally be there.
For those of you who have never experienced it's magic, here's how it works. They make about 30 home made soups per day. You call ahead and listen to the recording that tells you what they are, (this is where I narrow it down to my 3 possible choices) and then head over. They are located next to City Lights on the corner of 6th & Tacoma. Their shop is tiny, so bring a coat in case the line goes out the door- which it sometimes does.
Once there, you can sample the different soups and order them to go. They cost between $2.75-$5.00 depending on how big your bowl is, and they sell home made bread to go with it.
This Saturday's birthday is a great day to check it out- since you will also be getting a free birthday cupcake!
