RTSS or "Rebuilding Together South Sound", is accepting applications from Homeowners who need some help with their homes. The deadline is December 1st, and the actual "Rebuilding Day" will be April 25th, 2009. They (and their network of affiliates) will provide free home repairs to homeowners in need.
To qualify for Rebuilding Day you must own your home, be low-income, reside in their service area (Pierce County, Federal Way, Auburn) and be elderly, disabled or a family with children.
For more information on who qualifies for this program and how you or someone you know can benefit from the tremendous help they provide visit the RTSS Website.
In addition to rebuilding day, they offer Home Modification for the elderly and disabled. The Home Modification program accepts applications and makes repairs throughout the year. Some examples are wheelchair ramps and widened doorways to give added mobility in the home and access to the community.

With Pierce County claiming the dubious honor of #1 in the state for home foreclosures, I find it shocking that there isn't a greater effort underway to educate homeowners about Washington State's Free Homeowner Counseling Line.
Just so you know, when a person falls behind in their payments and the forclosure process is started, it becomes a matter of public record. This means that homeowners are baraged with mail, phone calls, sometimes even personal visits from people wanting to charge them money to get them out of their situation.
Depending on what kind of services are being offered, it might be just the help the homeowner needs. Real Estate agents might be able to help them sell the home before it is foreclosed. Bankruptcy attorneys may be able to help the homeowner keep their home. Unfortunately some of the time, desperate homeowners are paying for help that is available to them for free.
I should mention that this homeownership counseling is also available for people who are just thinking about buying a house. This is great if you have a question about your loan and you want to independently verify that what your Real Estate Agent or Mortgage Rep is telling you is true. When you are in trouble and are worried about losing your home, it can be isolating. Many people are embarrassed to ask for advice, so this is a tremendous resource for people to use. Tell your friends and family. Spread the word!
Here's what selling in Downtown, and how much it sold for. This is all a matter of public record- So don't feel like you're doing anything naughty when you look. They all sold within in the last 60 Days.

It's interesting to note that all of the Condo's and Townhomes to sell had at least 2 Bedrooms. The average days on market were 220 days, (that's a little over 7 months for those of you who hate the Maths) and the average price per square foot was $219. Little surprise that the units that had been on the market the longest gave the biggest price concessions. The sold prices ranged from $137k-$465k... so... when's someone going to close on one of those big, fancy, condos?
