Being in Florida, a key politican battleground state, has meant we Floridians have great opportunities to meet the presidential candidates. For the past month especially, Barack Obama, Joe Biden, John McCain and Sarah Palin have all toured the West Coast of Florida. And no matter your political preferences, what a great opportunity to participate in the process of democracy!
Yesterday my partner, David Burke went to hear Caroline Bessett Kennedy speak at the Vineyards Community Center in Naples. He stated he walked away with a sense of gratitude for people being involved in the process. Ms. Kennedy's comments were about her dad, the memories of how he inspired the masses and what opportunities the future holds. "It was so refreshing to hear someone speak with encouragement and positively about the political process instead of all the mud-slinging we get by the minute in the media," says David.

After years of planning and a 2 month delay by a pair of rare Cooper Hawks, the new parking garage #2 is starting to take shape.
Scheduled to open in early 2009, the nearly $9 million garage is located on the corner of Eighth Street South and Sixth Avenue. The garage had wide community support from the Downtown Naples Association, The Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce, City Planners and the Parks and Recreation division. The new garage will help ease parking along busy 5th Avenue South as well as provide much needed parking for events held at Cambier Park-The Norris Center-The Bandshell and the Von Leibig Arts Center.
