
Cortez, Country Springs and Eagle Canyon elementary schools in the Chino Valley Unified School District have been awarded the California Distinguished School Awards for their academic excellence! This is the first award for Cortez which also received a Title 1 Academic Achievement Award recognizing its significant progress on statewide test scores. This is the third time Country Springs has earned the award having previously earned it in 2000 and 2006.The California School Boards Association awarded Country Springs the Golden Bell Award in 2008 and in 2006 the school was named a National Blue Ribbon School which is the nation's highest honor! Eagle Canyon was also awarded the Distinguished School Award in 1997. Congratulations to the students, teachers and administration for their achievements in excellence!
Chino Hills ranks number 13 for the second year in a row on the FBI's list of safest cities. At number 13, Chino Hills is 70.03% below the national crime average in the United States.The FBI report ranks 393 cities in the United States in six different crime areas which are murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary and car theft. Compared to last year, US violent crimes were down 1.9% and property crimes were down.08%.
CQ Press's City Crime Rankings 2009–2010 analyzed the 2008 FBI crime statistics for metropolitan areas and cities with 75,000 or more population in the United States. To be included in the rankings, at least 75 percent of all enforcement agencies in a metro area must report 12 months of crime data to the FBI for 2008. Cities and metro areas that did not report statistics were excluded.
The Chino Valley School District is one of the best in the Inland Empire and a big draw for home buyers in Chino and Chino Hills. Sending your child to a top rated school is just plain good parenting! The API score is the Academic Performance Index based on state tests taken every Spring. The numeric index ranges from the lowest at 200 to the highest at 1,000. The statewide target is 800.
Congratulations to Cortez, Gird, Rhodes, El Rancho, Dickey, Liberty, Dickson, Canyon Hills, Townsend, Los Serranos and Walnut schools for their substantial increase in scores!

CQ Press is a division of Congressional Quarterly, Inc. and located in Washington DC. Statistics were acquired from 2006 crime data released from the FBI.

Per Dataquick, 40 resale homes, new homes and condos sold in Chino Hills in the month of March, 2008 with a median price of $497,000 compared to March of 2007's median price of $585,000 indicating a 15.4% median price decrease from last year.
