Gilbert Days Parade - Saturday November 15, 2008

My family and I ventured out to the Gilbert Days Parade this last Saturday. It was great to get out in the perfect weather. Right now is virtually perfect weather here in Gilbert, Arizona. The sun shines without being overbearing. There is a bit of a cool breeze, but no need to have on a sweater or a jacket. Anyway, my wife, 3 children and I enjoyed a beautiful morning curb-side at the parade. There were marching bands, old restored cars, churches, military jeeps, swat trucks, motorcyclists from the American Legion, rodeo queens, dance squads and even Sheriff Joe Arpaio. I am posting some pictures from the parade.

Managing Your Time as a Professional

I wanted to share a bit about how I have learned to manage my time. Not that I am the expert or anything, but I have learned a few things throughout the years.

I used to be all over the place in answering calls and email, etc. at any time of day. For some people, that works. But, I have to say that tired me out quite a bit and got me frazzled. I have always taken off Sundays and reserved it for church and family time. And, I like to enjoy Saturdays with my family when I am not showing buyers homes for sale. I find that I am re-energized for the week when I do something different than work.

Now, on to what I really want to share with you......Training your clients! Clients need to know that you run a business, and that you are not primarily available at 11:00 at night. For me, I am not at the top of my game late at night.....and I don't want to be talking Real Estate late at night. I do have a life besides work! And, I am sure that you do, too. I have determined that I will be available by phone from 8am until 6pm Monday through Friday and available on the weekends by appointment. So, I left my business hours on my cell phone voice message. Clients will start to understand that I will work very hard for them during business hours. If they call after business hours, I will return their call promptly the next morning. As for email, I stop checking my email after 7pm and turn my phone and computer off! We deserve that time off. Believe me, I can function very well and get the job done during those hours.

Don't get me wrong, I am huge on Customer Service and Satisfaction. I am just saying that we as professionals have a life besides business. In fact, you will find that you are more productive and better at what you do if you allow some other things into your life besides just working.

Hello Everyone!

This is my very first post on Active Rain, or on any other blog for that matter.

I am a Real Estate Professional serving the East Valley area of Metropolitan Phoenix. I particularly work in the town of Gilbert. But, I also work in the cities Mesa, Chandler, Queen Creek, Apache Junction and Tempe.

I only practice Residential Real Estate. I refer commercial business to my Realtor friends that specialize in that area. I know what I am good at and what I am not good at.

I have been practicing Real Estate since 1995. In 2006, I created Top Rock Realty, my own Real Estate Brokerage Firm. I am also the Designated Broker of Top Rock Realty.

I very much enjoy helping people buy and sell real estate. I focus on customer service and retention. And, referrals aren't too bad either!

I was born and raised in Mesa, Arizona. I now live in the lovely town of Gilbert, Arizona with my wife and 3 children.

My interests besides my family include Music, Music, and More Music. As a slight tid bit of information, my favorite band of all time is RUSH. I have seen them in concert about 8 times so far.
