Last Wednesday night promptly at 6:30pm my husband Doug and I went to our first Ballroom Dancing Lesson at the Kihei Community Center. Lessons by Rita O'Connor were open to all ages single or married and we had a blast!
This is not your parents dance class. Starting with the basics Rita and Brian demonstrated and patiently guided our two circles around with only a few toes stepped on. It was fun to be in my husbands arms and glide around the room (well perhaps not gliding yet). I tend to want to lead and Rita says this is a big NO.
Singles are welcomed and you will switch off partners frequently. (sometimes I'd wished I could switch off from Doug, only for dancing though) :) We saw old friends and made a few new ones too.
