I know that we are all sick of hearing about and dealing with the gas prices. Yesterday, I watched the prices in my area go from $3.699 to $4.609. One station had gas at $3.699 and the station across the street had gas at $4.609. It is a crazy time, but it still hits the pocketbook really hard.

So, I am going to look at the positive side this weekend. Since the cost of gas has been eating away at our budget, we have already been cutting back on things such as eating out, shopping and going to the movies etc. This weekend, we decided to make the best of the situation, we love football, so we are going to watch football and use the DVR to record football to make sure we don't miss a game. We are going to watch teams that we don't normally watch, pop some popcorn, make brownies, grill out and enjoy some family time. We may even round up a couple of the kids in the neighborhood and play football. After all, our son is growing up and he probably won't think this is cool in a couple of years.

Tomorrow, we will go to church, and then we will watch the race and the race that we recorded from Saturday. So we will not be bored and we will be entertained and we will not be spending any money on gas. The positive side is family time and learning to make the best of a not so good situation.

My backyard is becoming a wildlife sanctuary. We have wild chickens and roosters, ducks, an abundance of squirrels, raccoons, wild cats, owls, and goats. In the distance, I can hear cows, but they have made it to my yard yet. Now, that fall is approaching the deer are starting to roam again. I will have at least three deer a day walk in the backyard. This morning Mr. Wylie Coyote was in the yard as if it was his own. He didn't seem phased by the presence of humans; he just took his time walking away. I am sure you think that I live on 40 acres in the middle of nowhere, no; I live in a subdivision in a populated area. I have a strip of woods behind my house and I guess that is there refuge from the world. My backyard must be their path to their next refuge. I am not complaining, I am just enjoying God's wonderful miracles. It is a great way to start the day.

I have a listing that was not having any showings. It is a nice home in a very affordable price range. About 3 weeks ago, after very few showings, the homeowners agreed to a small price reduction. There were still no showings. The homeowners took my suggestions on simple curb appeal improvements. I made new pictures for the MLS and I did some more advertising, but still no showings. I also posted the listing on Activerain last week. Guess what? This week, there have been 4 showings and 2 may be promising. I hope this is a good sign for the sale of this listing and a good sign for the market. I am keeping my fingers crossed. I am hopeful that Good News is the next phone call.

Today, I am going to brag on my husband, Andy. He is a custom cabinet maker and designer and he owns and operates Ryals Cabinets in Lyman, South Carolina. He works for Woodland Builders in Greenville. His builder had one of his homes entered in the Tour of Homes in Greenville this weekend. This home was awarded Best Kitchen in the Tour of Homes. Andy builds beautiful cabinets with exquisite quality and details. Wow, this is a great honor for Andy and his builder!! I am so proud of him.
