There are easy fixes in your home you can do right now to go 'GREEN' the RI way I call it. It will bring a return when you sell your home or just enjoy the benefits now of improving the environment- the RI way.
This past weekend I just had a direct vent on demand gas tankless hot water heater installed in my home to replace the older tank hot water heater. My mantra for this year is 'GO GREEN' in improvements so a Rinnai tankless water heater was installed - a pricey option at a couple thousand dollars but I almost made money on this one. After you subtract out the 30% federal tax credit on the water heater & installation when I file my taxes, the $300 rebate back from the local gas company & the federal RI appliance rebate of $300 (yes, it covers water heaters & boilers) the water heater will pay itself back in 2 years! Go GREEN the RI way...

Here are some other ways to go green that will cost you minimal dollars and Eric Corey Freed delivers it very well in this video:

The Rally for the Plum Beach Lighthouse on Narragansett Bay,North Kingstown, RI 02852- License Plates no less! The rally for the restoration of the Plum Beach Lighthouse in Narragansett Bay off of North Kingstown, RI 02852 and just on the north side of the Verrazano Jamestown bridge is amazing. A transformation and restoration that took years and dedication in fundraising by the Friends of the Plum Beach Lighthouse, Inc.
It is a tribute to the people who supported the restoration of this rusty bucket of a lighthouse into a pride and joy of Narragansett Bay, RI. Now all travelers over the Verrazano bridge can see it in all its original detail and it's a proud symbol of our great Narragansett Bay waterway.
Why the name Plum Beach? As a name, it comes from the wonderful Plum beach homes and neighborhood to the west of it in North Kingstown, RI which is called 'Plum Beach'.

The Friends of the Plum Beach Lighthouse convinced the legislature to offer a license plate depicting the lighthouse to owners with current RI passenger car registrations. The General Assembly passed a bill giving the right to sell the plate as a fundraiser to help repaint the lighthouse.
By the way, you may want to explore the neighborhood of Plum Beach for which this lighthouse is named for its great waterfront North Kingstown homes too.
The license plates are for existing passenger registrations and the plate charge is $41.50--$20 from each order goes to repainting and maintaining the lighthouse, and $21.50 goes to the state for the plate production( order form- www.pblplate.org/order-form). My understanding is that the demand is very high for these plates as they become a local status symbol in the RI area. But what a wonderful and creative way to generate funding for the Plum Beach Lighthouse to be restored and maintained.
If you are a Rhode Islander & we know that Rhode Islanders love their license plates this may be the one for you to order!
And yes, if we step out of the water from the Plum Beach lighthouse you can view the real estate on both sides of the lighthouse in North Kingstown and Jamestown, RI which is breathtaking, picturesque, tranquil and a great place to live....explore it and see.
Kudos to the ones who make the difference.
