Fireworks Ban in Fort Bend County

Fireworks Ban in Fort Bend County

Well it is official... there will be no fireworks sold or used on an individual basis this year due to the drought conditions we have experienced in the state of Texas. See below for the official statement from Fort Bend County Judge Bob Hebert.

"FORT BEND COUNTY, TX- Texas Governor Rick Perry approved Fort Bend County's request for an extension of the restrictions contained in the disaster declaration. County Judge Bob Hebert signed the order declaring a local state of disaster for Fort Bend County due to exceptional drought conditions. The extension approved by Governor Perry prohibits the sale and use of fireworks in Fort Bend County through 7 a.m. on July 5, 2011.

The declaration and order does not apply to municipal or governmental sponsored fireworks displays and does not apply to a privately sponsored display that has been approved in advance by the County Fire Marshal."

Well I personally think it is for the safety of all of us... We can still have a safe and fun 4th of July this year with a back yard Bar-B-Que and some water works to stay cool.

Happy 4th Everyone!!!!!
