Howdy Y'all!
I got to help out at the Montgomery Gentry Concert held at Big League Dreams in Redding, Ca last night. It was the park's first concert. They set up the stage on one of the ball fields and had beer trucks and food booths with BBQ'd burgers scattered all over. I would guess there were about 4000 people in attendance. I know that the employees of Big League Dreams (BLD) worked their tails off! I worked in the VIP tent with three very friendly young women who worked hard to make sure all was taken care of. Good job, girls!
It was a great night for an outdoor concert. The field never seemed so big before. The music from both bands was good. It was a good venue. They even had lassooing in the volleyball pits! That was a great touch.
Of coarse, with it being their first concert, some in attendance had some complaints. I'm sure a friendly email to BLD with suggestions on how to improve are appreciated. I really hope that the concerts go well for BLD and the city of Redding. I would definitely go to another......there's on scheduled on July 26th. Check out their website to see who's coming at www.bigleaguedreams.com
Yesterday was the annual Strawberry Festival in Happy Valley-an unincorporated townin Anderson, CA. I was blessed to be able to help serve Strawberry Shortcake. YUM! People come from all over the area to get fresh, local strawberries on shortcake with vanilla ice cream! It is so great to see the community come out and take pride in the place they live in. Garage sale signs line the route to the Festival. Many local residents sell their crafts, etc. So much work goes in to the one day event. And it takes so much volunteer effort. Thanks to all who were able to help the Event Staff continue to bring the Strawberry Festival to Shasta County. Good Job!
