Longleaf, just a short drive west of the Village of Pinehurst, is a popular golf community in Southern Pines, NC. Longleaf is located next to Talamore and right across the street from the Mid South Club off Midland Road in Southern Pines. The course and community was built on the site of one of Pinehurst's former horse training estates. This heritage has been nicely incorporated into the course layout. Club amenities for member residents include a clubhouse with dining and grille rooms, lawn bowling and croquet, tennis courts with lighting, a pool and a fitness room.
Though there are a nice supply of newer and resale single family homes, many buyers are attracted to the community because of the nice range of modern and spacious condos, villas and town homes. More frequently, I come into contact with propective buyers seeking a luxury condo or town home. The Pinehurst market is starting to increase the supply, but spacious and modern luxury condos still represent a small fraction of the total condos in the Pinehurst area. For purposes of this blog, let's define luxury condos as being over 1,600 square feet, newer than 1984 and over $230,000. That effectively filters out the large number of small and dated condos that often come on the market inside Pinehurst. If you're giving any thought to building in Mid South, you'll want to know about the lots that have been listed within the last week. A good number (over 25) are patio home lots located on Deacon Palmer ranging from $35,000 to $75,000. Deacon Palmer is to the right after entering the main gate. These lots are perfect for those wanting to build a smaller home, in the 2,000 to 2,300 square foot range.
As you wind your way down Plantation from the main gate, past the new pool and tennis courts you will find more recently listed larger lots off Plantation on Hadley Ct. Then there are several interior and golf front lots that were listed on Belfair Ct., located on other side of Mid South close to the 5th and 6th holes.

Occasionally I work with Moore County home searchers who love golf and want to be near the Village of Pinehurst, but are not satisfied with the sizes of most lots in the Pinehurst market. Foxfire is a logical location for such buyers to consider.
Foxfire Village is a small rural community located midway between Pinehurst and the West End/Seven Lakes area. The village was originally incorporated as a golf resort community in 1974. It has a population of around 600 and measures about 6 square miles. Many local real estate brokers are projecting significant growth in Foxfire over the next 5-10 years.
Residents in Foxfire can join the Foxfire Golf Club, giving them access to 36-holes of golf, recently renamed Red and Grey, as well as a new clubhouse. Though the majority of residences are single family homes, you will find villas and condos on the market.
