If you got "GOLD FEVER" you must be attending the Gold Nugget Days in Paradise California. This year is expected to be even more celebritorial with the anniversary of the discovery of the "Dogtown Nugget".
When is it? Saturday, April 18, to Sunday, April 26
Wow, that is nine days of activities including Kickoff Weekend: Saturday, April 18 and Sunday, April 19
The festivities begin Saturday, April 19 at 11 a.m. the Law Dawgs and Pistoleros are causing mischief including holding up an unsuspecting stage coach with it's load of newly discovered gold nuggets stashed under the seat of the stagecoach driver. Startled by all the shooting. Like watching an old western movie up close. It is sure to delight young and old at the Gold Nuggert Museum.
This morning I awoke to a chilly wind and light rain sprinkles.
Nothing
like the weather event plastered all over the news
media for Saturday Feburary 14, 2009. Over the past two hours it has begun to snow and accumulate covering sidewalks that were once cleared, now they pose
hazards to any one walking down them.
The tall ponderosa pines are laiden with white and swaying to the chilly breeze. Large snow flakes falling down are pretty to look at the first few times but after awhile even snow becomes a bother, If it prevents you from getting up and getting going doing your daily chores. Be safe in Magalia today!
As for me, I am staying indoors to a warm fire in the woodstove cuz having a picnic is out!

When people speak of autumn they normally are referring to the northeastern United States. But for folks who are visit Butte County in Northern California, we have a treat for you. The Feather River Canyon is a blaze with wonderful autumn scenery to your hearts delight.
As the temperatures cool and fall came gently upon us, the gradual changes by the feather river canyon are being noticed. For those of us, who love the fall for it's cooler weather and the fantastic color changes, This is one of my favorite places to enjoy the fall colors in Butte county.
"The Feather River".
The anticipation of getting up close to the newly formed color changes in the canyon makes the drive down to through the winding scenic Hwy 70 canyon road almost impossible. My focus is drawn to the deep canyons, rock formations, vista views and the color changes that still await me on my adventure to find the fall colors in the Feather River Canyon.
Along the way, glimpses of small color patches entice me to venture on. Once on the walking paths near the river, my heart begins to beat harder, as I venture closer to the Feather River, knowing an abundance of leaves in full color change were right in front of me,
I find myself swept away by the beauty and immediately began gathering many leaves of different sizes and colors. Gold, yellow, red and crimson, just about every variation. Here they all were right in front of me in their natural state.
This is nothing short of awesome. The only thing which could enhance my trip would be a slow moving whistling train as it meanders thru the tall canyon corridors over and across the feather river. Back and forth over tressles and open passageways cut thru solid rock. How amazing is that?
My imagination takes ahold of me as I stolled almost breathless under the beautiful shade of colored leaved examples that glisten in the slight breeze.
If you are desiring a walk or ride thru some spectacular fall color, The Feather River Canyon is the place to be.
