Exciting news in Desert Hot Springs this evening! the city council has voted to move ahead with a 34M redevelopment bond. The bond is A rated ranking it as good as Palm Desert and Rancho Mirage! this is great news for the city known for having some of the best water in the world and it's natural hot mineral springs. The bond will provide monies for new streets, rehab the small downtown area and the city will buy parcels Pierson Dr. making it possible to eventually build a city center to mention a few of the plans. The city has been in disrepair for many years but known for it's boutique spa's motels and hotels. The Desert Local News and The Desert Sun Has reported on this. I was also at the council meeting myself and was happy to be there while history was being made for this city that has so much potential.

Mountain View By Mission Lakes is a community of close to 380 homes. The community is nestled against the hills on the west side of Desert Hot Springs. There is also an age qualified section so there is something for everyone. The community is a gated community that has three pools, Tennis courts, sport courts and a tot lot for the little ones.
Many of the homes have amazing views and some are located on the Mission Lakes Golf Course, for newer homes you can't beat the price point!
The city of Desert Hot Springs has had some challenges in the past, in the last year there is a new mayor, city council, city manager and new police chief. It seems that the city is now on tract after much neglect in the main part of town for years. So things are looking up!
Mountain View is a great community to consider since you get views, good price point and newer homes. It is about a 10 minute drive to get to Palm Springs and close to 20 minutes to drive to Palm Desert.

Waking up early yesterday I turned the TV on to CNBC to check out the tortuous news on the housing market ( I guess I am a glutton for punishment). To my surprise it was the first time in a year that there was positive news about housing. They reported that sales were up 2.9% country wide, I thought wow my four escrows couldin't have pushed it that much! But I have been talking to more buyers lately!
I sell in the Palm Springs area and work for a company that has 420 agents in the valley. Monday is office meeting day so off I went to hear the basic stuff see some friends and get a free breakfast from the vendors, I know kinda shallow. The news was good, it wasn't your typical things will be ok meeting. It was things are getting better! Our company Windermere Real Estate actually had a 10% increases in sales compared to last year month to month! So maybe it is getting better in the Coachella Valley where I work.
I think with the decline in prices , it is getting hard for the buyers sitting on the sidelines to say no, perhaps its the weather right now but I have a feeling that it's the low prices. Maybe we will look back and say the bottom was two months ago. Yes I know there is still more pain for some people to come as I get ready to do a couple BPO,s and hope for some REO listings. Or maybe I just have a good attitude today, but it seems that things are looking up here. Time will tell I guess I will keep suiting up and showing up!
While working on the west side of Desert Hot Springs, with two listings in the community of mountain View By Mission lakes I was seeing good activity at my open houses. It was interesting to me that many of the people had heard the city was getting on track after many years of bad management. Also many people had not considered moving here and didn't know about the Mission Lakes area and the golf course there. The home we had open was on the golf course and was newer construction with views of the mountains and valley. It is good to see DHS start making a turning point. The main part of town with some great spas will take some time after much neglect, it will be interesting to see where the city is in the next five years. If it keeps on the new track it is on, there could be some opportunity down the road. Oh yeah! the home I was doing open house at did receive an offer today!
