I was talking to a co-worker the other day and she mentioned that her client for last Thursday had cancelled but wanted to make it for this Thursday. My friend told her that Thursday was Thanksgiving so that wouldn't work. Her client then said "Don't you work on Thanksgiving?" Now, I understand that her client was off and it was a good day for her but give me a break! First of all, Thanksgiving is a holiday that 99% of the country celebrates. Her client was annoyed when she told them that Thanksgiving was a day that she was spending with her family. In addition to preparing and cooking all day for a house full of people and being absolutely exhausted her client thought she could squeeze in a showing. Did she think that the seller was even going to let them in the house. I understand people are desperate to sell their homes but not on Thanksgiving!
That brought to mind a time in the summer when I was preparing dinner for my family and in the span of that one hour my seller called me 4 times regarding a negotiation we were working on. We all know how difficult it is to bread and fry chicken cutlets with one hand!!! As soon as my family was seated and I was about to serve, she called again and told me to call the other agent back right away. I was polite but I told her that I was putting dinner on the table and would do it within the next half hour and get back to her. When I called her back she apologized and said that she forgot that realtors are people too and have families and responsibilities other than real estate. I will never forget that line," I forgot that realtors are people too"!!!!
