As a mortgage professional with more than 20 years experience, I have seen many things over the years. Some good, some bad, but it has never been boring.
My attitude has always been about helping people realize their dream of home ownership, or help them improve their financial position. I know that if I do an excellent job of this the money will take care of itself.
But there have been, and still are, many lenders who only look at what their next paycheck will be, and how to make as much as possible on every loan. Their client's needs and wants are often secondary to the money generated for a commission.
What these lenders fail to realize is that if they take good care of their clients, the money will take care of itself. It's already built into the transaction when you quote a loan. This allows you to focus on more important things, like taking care of your borrower's needs.
If we focus on the right things, we will help more people in the long run, and the referrals we receive will help sustain our businesses for years to come.
