Not a creature was stirring, not even that pesky little mouse that has invaded my basement !! Ahhhh, but he met his match last night, and he enjoyed his last taste of peanut butter in my strategically placed trap!!
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care...in hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be here!! Geez, better get that fireplace cleaned of creosote, and open the damper so he can get in....and oh, yes remove the logs I have all set for my Christmas Day fire...
The children were nestled all snug in their beds, while visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads.. Well, not quite sugar plums, probably a new PSP, or Bay Blades, or the newest Barbie doll and her summer resort, including a pool!!
And mamma in her "kerchief" and I in my cap, had just settled our brains for a long winter's nap.... which took a couple of martinis, and a Manhattan or two....after all the commotion in the house, fighting the crowds at the mall...
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter.... I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter.. Away to the window I flew like a flash, tore open the shutter and threw up the sash.... well, probably the window I would think....the squirrels were all fighting over the nuts I threw out for them and scampering all around my deck...I can't believe they can stuff three whole unshelled peanuts into their tiny little pouches, then scurry off to bury them somewhere..... to enjoy at a later time.
Well, you get the picture.. now here's the rest of that delighful poem....
Wishing all my AR friends and colleages, the Merriest of Christmases, or whatever Holiday it is you celebrate... and enjoy a healthy and prosperous New Year!!
The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and eight tinny reindeer.
With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St Nick.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name!
"Now Dasher! now, Dancer! now, Prancer and Vixen!
On, Comet! On, Cupid! on, on Donner and Blitzen!
To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!
Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!"
As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky.
So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,
With the sleigh full of Toys, and St Nicholas too.
And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
Down the chimney St Nicholas came with a bound.
He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot.
A bundle of Toys he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a peddler, just opening his pack.
His eyes-how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow.
The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath.
He had a broad face and a little round belly,
That shook when he laughed, like a bowlful of jelly!
He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself!
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread.
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all the stockings, then turned with a jerk.
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose!
He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, ‘ere he drove out of sight,
"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!"

Sales Strong in November
December 3, 2010 -- Greater Toronto REALTORS reported 6,510 existing home sales in November - down 13 per cent from 7,446 sales in November 2009. New listings were also down 13 per cent annually to 8,642.
On a month-over-month basis, the seasonally adjusted annual rate of sales increased for the fourth straight month to 88,100. This rate was substantially higher than the July low of 67,900.
"The GTA resale market has tightened since the summer. Healthy market conditions continued to support growth in the average selling price," said Toronto Real Estate Board President Bill Johnston.
"Sales through the first 11 months of the year were down only marginally compared to the same period in 2009. We remain on track for one of the best years on record under the current TREB market area," continued Johnston.
The average selling price for November transactions was $438,030 - up five per cent compared to November 2009.
| Dwelling Type | Sales | % | Median |
| Detached | 2,969 | 97 | $ 457,000 |
| Semi-Detached | 707 | 98 | $ 370.000 |
| Condo Townhouse | 538 | 97 | $ 277,750 |
| Condo Apartment | 1,720 | 97 | $ 285,000 |
| Link | 95 | 98 | $ 330,000 |
| Att/Row/Townhouse | 459 | 98 | $ 354,900 |
| Co-op Apartment | 16 | 95 | $ 156,500 |
| Detached Condo | 6 | 97 | $ 303,000 |
"The average selling price in the GTA is affordable. A household earning the average income can comfortably cover the mortgage payments on an average priced home. Expect the average selling price to grow at a moderate pace over the next year," said Jason Mercer, TREB's Senior Manager of Market Analysis.
Median Price
In November, the median price was $366,000, from the $353,800 recorded during November of 2009.
GOOGLE ANALYTICS... ARE YOU TRACKING & OPTIMIZING YOUR WEB TRAFFIC?
I subscribed to Google Analytics abput six months ago, and was amazed at the kind, and depth of information I could garner from this and how it could help me customize my web site based on the statistics it revealed. Its a great way to monitor your website to determine what areas need changing.
Google analytics is a free service that generates detailed statistics about the visitors to a website, aimed at marketers. It can track visitors from referrers, including search engines, display advertising, pay-per-click networks and email marketing.
From the Dashboard, you can track:
•· # of visits
•· # of pageviews
•· # of pages per visit
•· Bounce Rate
•· Average time on Site
•· % of New visits
It also allows you to see view a graph where the traffic comes from:
•· search engine
•· referring sites, or
•· direct traffic.
It also displays Content Overview with Top Landing Pages, Top Exiting Pages, and Keywords used.
By studying the statistics I discovered what the average time spent on my website was, what the top landing pages were, top exiting pages were, how many visitors visited a specific page of my website, which I then identified and changed.
All these statistics determine a very important number called the "bounce rate." The bounce rate is determined by the time someone actually spends on your website. The lower the bounce rate, the better.
Google Analytics implements "page tag" referred to as the Google Analytics Tracking Code (GATC). This GATC acts as a beacon, collecting private visitor data and sending back to Google for processing.
In addition to broadcasting information to Google services, the GATAC sets first party cookies on each visitor's computer. This is used to store anonymous information such as whether the visitor has been to the site before, or is a new or returning visitors, and what the referred site was, e.g. search engine, keywords, banner, email. Etc.
High Profile Sites using Google Analytics
Google Analytics is used in 3813, or 38.13%, of the 10,000 most popular websites (as ranked by Alexa Internet) ordered by popularity, as reported by BackendBattles.com
I monitor my report every day on Analytics to see the pages people are spending more time on, where the traffic is coming from and what people are actually looking at when they visit my website. This allows me to track, monitor and correct any pages where people are not spending more than 1 minute viewing.
its that time of year again, when it brings joy to some and despair to others. i am so fortunate to be in a good pleace where it is a happy time for me and my family, unlike so many others who can't afford to give their childre a toy or a good mal on Christmas.
Our office has, once again, set up donation boxes at both of our Mississauga locations for collection of non-perishable foot items to help those families in need, or toys to mke a child's Christmas.
Our local public schools have also "adopted" a needy family where donations are being made to help out a family who otherwise could not provide any toys for their children..
Please take a minute to think of others and help a needy family this Chrstmas!
