HOME SECURITY SEMINAR

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE WILL HOST A HOME SECURITY SEMINAR:

On October 7 at 9:00 a.m. the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office will host a Scam and Home Security Seminar in the Atrium's Florida Room. The seminar will focus on how to make your house safer and to prevent crime from occurring to you and your property.

Deputy Bill Sarver from the Crime Prevention Unit will present a brief Power Point presentation and speak on the recent trends in burglaries.

SCC's Deputy Sheriff Rob Thornton will remind residents of local scam trends that have been happening within the SCC area. The seminar is open to all residents of the Sun City Center area. No registration is needed. Refreshments will be served.

Community Foundation Sponsors Florida Orchestra in Concert

The Community Foundation of Greater Sun City Center will sponsor the Florida Orchestra in concert at Simmons Park on October 12, 4:30 -6:30 p.m. There is no charge, but a donation of canned or packaged food to benefit Tampa Harvest is appreciated.

Food donations will be distributed to nonprofits for distribution in South Hillsborough County. Come early, bring chairs or blankets for seating.

There will be a local business on site to provide light refreshments. Coolers are permitted, however alcohol is prohibited in the park.

An Art Show and other Musical performances will be scheduled earlier in the day.

There is plenty of free parking.

Merrick: The Brilliant Beast of Broadway

The Performing Arts Club of Sun City Center will present "Merrick: The Brilliant Beast of Broadway" with nine performances scheduled to run beginning October 23 in The Rollins Theatre.

Producer David Merrick dominated the Broadway scene for nearly a quarter century with musicals such as "Gypsy" and "Hello, Dolly!"

Multi-talented actor, singer, writer and narrator Ed Brown wrote the script, this being one of the numerous plays he has written for The Performing Arts Club. Barbara Brtva, long-time PAC producer is this play's producer and Lew Resseguie, who toured in Merrick's "42nd Street" will direct.

Robert Lockwood Mills, who appeared a year ago in "Ghosts of Tin Pan Alley," stars as Merrick.

A diverse cast of adults and children will perform songs from a number of Merrick's hits and lesser known shows and portray characters who populated Merrick's life, including his five wives and some legendary Broadway personalities.

Performances are October 23, 24, 25, 30 and 31 and November 1, 6, 7, 8. Tickets are $10 and are on sale now at the Sun City Center Ticket Kiosk in the Atrium Building. Show times vary and will be available when purchasing tickets.

Patsy Cline Comes Back to Life In A Benefit Performance for SCC's Emergency Squad!

On October 30 at 7:30 p.m., Kings Point Borini Theater will present "The Patsy Cline Show & Carolyn Cline Vegas Show."

Performing will be the very talented Carolyn Cline, former Miss Florida and cousin of Patsy Cline.

Carolyn will sing some of Patsy Cline's major hits, "Crazy" and "I Fall to Pieces" and others.

Patsy Cline died in a 1963 plane crash. Carolyn brings her back to life! Following a brief intermission, Carolyn will totally change the style and perform her very own "Carolyn Cline Vegas Show."

Carolyn Cline has studied music all her life and most recently achieved a master's degree in music education.

Not only does she have a charming voice, she also plays seven instruments including the guitar, violin, saxophone and anything with a keyboard. She has taught music in both Hillsborough and Pasco counties for many years.

Most importantly, this show will benefit the all-volunteer Sun City Center Emergency Squad which provides free service for Sun City Center.

A limited number of tickets are still available and on sale at the Kings Point box office from 8:30 a.m-4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday. Ticket prices are $12 each for reserved seating.

New Pipeline Proposed Along HWY 674.

Hillsborough County Water Department plans to construct 11,000 feet of 30 inch sewage force main along State Road 674 from Hwy #301 to a lift station just west of Upper Creek Road.

The new line is being built to accommodate growth in the South County. The existing 12 inch pipeline will remain in service when the new line is activated.

Currently the project is through about one third of the design phase. Design phase completion is targeted for late spring 2009.

The project, which has been budgeted at $4.8 million, design and construction, will have two more public meetings. One meeting will be held just prior to final design completion and the second will be help approximately one month prior to the commencement of construction.
