Income Tax Rebate

You need not pay an income tax for the tax-year 2007 to be eligible for rebate. However a tax return must be filed.

Under the Stimulus rebate program you are eligible for rebate if you received at least $3,000 from Social Security benefits, veterans benefits or earned income in 2007 (or any combination of these). Depending on your earned income, rebates range from $300. to $600. ($600 to $1200. for couples).

To obtain payment you must file a federal tax return. If you do not normally file the IRS will wend you a 1040A form to be completed. IRS will in turn figure your rebate after you file.

Most checks will be mailed in May or June.

The AARP will assist you with filing your return. Their representatives will be in the Florida Room, Central Campus, North Pebble Beach Blvd. Monday and Tuesday, April 14, 15 between the hours of 9 A.M. and 1 P.M.

Day Trip to Tarpon Springs

Tarpon Springs a Greek Village known for its sponge docks is located about an hour North West of Sun City Center.

In 1891 John KIng Cheyney changed Tarpon Springs into a "Sponge Town!" and formed the Anclote Sponge Company. Cheyney later hired John Cocoris, a young Greek sponge buyer who convinced Cheyney to bring his brothers and other Greek divers to Tarpon Springs. With their advanced rubberized diving suits, copper helmets ans pumped-in air the divers brought in nearly four times as many songes per man per hour then the harvesters using the hook method. 500 Greek men entered Tarpon Springs between 1905 and 1906. More immigrants followed and sponge docks were transformed into a replica of a Mediterranean port city with restaurants and markets.

Today Visitors can walk the quaint village streets, visit the sponge docks, eat at any one of the Greek restaurants. Window Shop the local bakery and take leave of ones diet to indulge in any one or more of the beautifully displayed Greek baked goods.

A sightseeing Trolley runs Tuesday - Sunday for a fare of $1.00 for a single ride or $3.00 for the entire day. Visitors ride thu the historic town hop off see points of interest then hop back on to the next interest point. There are many antique, local speciality, shell and sponge shops for those like minded visitors.

Take a boat ride out into the gulf and have fun watching the dolphins chase and play along side.

All in all Tarpon Springs is a fun filled day. Lots to see and do with a very affordable price tag.

You Like Rollercoasters?

If you like Roller-coasters I have just the place for you to spend a glorious day!

Busch Gardens, Tampa Bay, Florida has at least ten adult ride roller-coasters. My three favorites are The Gwazi which is a mammoth double wooden coaster. It is also the Southeast's largest and fastest double wooden roller coaster with over 1.25 million board feet of lumber and over 2 million bolted connections. The Gawzi takes passengers over more then 7,000 of track and is two distinct coasters intertwined.

The Kumba is one of the Worlds best roller coasters with an initial drop of 135 feet Then you will plunge 110 feet into a diving loop feel a full 3 seconds of weightlessness while spiraling 360 degrees and tear through one of the worlds largest vertical loops.

For those that are really daring, I have been only once, be sure to ride the all new SheiKra. This coaster is billed as "One of a Kind Experience. From my point of view, it truly is! From 200 foot up the ride crest the brink, hangs over for seconds that feel like hours, then plunges at 90 degrees straight down. My next time will be in the front car, WOW! Now think about all of the above, can you imagine that ride without a floor? Yes that's the way it is, in 2007 Busch introduced the newest feature of the attraction, "Floorless" and it is a real experience!

There are other coasters offering varing degrees of thrills that will satisfy thrill seekers of all ages and depth. Sometimes we go to Busch just to ride the coasters, other days we take in the shows and other attractions. This is just one of many fun things to do in Sunny Tampa Bay. Come see for yourself.
