Farmer's Market to Stay Open Year Round at the Factory in Franklin TN!

Dr. Charlie Hatcher, president of the Board for the Franklin TN Farmer's Market Association, recently announced that for the first time in the 8 years of the Farmer's exsistance the market will be extended throught the winter months, making it a Year Round Farmer's Market!

The Market, located under the shed at the back of The Factory, has been a gathering place on Saturdays for several years now. Open every Saturday from 8am until 2pm, the winter hours will be shorter; from 10am to noon. Organic Locally Owned Produce, one of the mainstays of the summer market is dotted with CSAs like this one from Delvin Farms. CSAs, Community Supported Agriculture, are a great way to make sure that one eats their 5-7 sevings of fruits and vegetables each day! I signed up for this last year and was amazed at the amount and variety of the produce I picked up each week. I say last year because it really was more than my husband and I could eat. We are planning to sign up for a half plan in 2009.

"Local Farmers can sell their products providing quality local produce and protect the enfironment. Being green means the food is grown close, not miles away, saving on fuel." Hatcher says. All of the produce at the market must come from with 150 miles of Franlin or be Tennessee grown.

In addition to produce, one can find vendors selling Organic Meats, Eggs, Cheeses, Baked Goods and Local Arts and Crafts. This Holiday season there will be a special Craft and Art Festival inside the Factory. Dates and times will be posted on the website.

Please Sell the Forclosures, it will Boost the Economy!

Last week I took a past client out to look at a foreclosure. Sure, they don't need to move, but they've been married for 3 years and think it's time to start a family - in a bigger house.

I know everyone is hesitant right now but we need to get our first time home buyers and everyone else out looking at foreclosures! There are plenty of them, they are NOT ALL DUMPS, and getting them sold and off the market will be a WIN-WIN for everyone!

We wrote an offer, that was finally accepted yesterday, on a property that is only 4 years old. It's clean and ready to move in to. The comparables are $50,000 higher than the sales price. I know this is tough for the neighborhood but SOMEONE IS GOING TO BUY IT - WHY NOT US??

The media keeps saying that there's no money. Well that's NOT the Case! Terry Sanchez, in her blog, says that money's available. Jeff Belonger recently posted Mortgage Money is still available - FHA loans & FHA mortgages is the best way !!!! Donna Mitchell with Countrywide was at our sales meeting just this week talking about money. She writes it in her blog too. It's out there! Find It!!!

Getting these houses sold is going to reduce the Inventory, get Buyers in good homes and get our economy back on track.

I spent today trying to keep a closing together, work an offer ALL While picking up Cereal for the Tennessee Baptist Children's Home!

This is the third year that I have done a Cereal Drive for the Tennessee Baptist Children's Home located here in Brentwood, Tennessee.

My farm area is about 900 houses and I send them a letter, postcard this year, reminding them to put it out on the front porch for us to pick up. Pick up date was yesterday with today as the "Rain Day" backup. Of course it rained both days. Go figure. So we canvased the neighborhood BOTH days looking for boxes of cereal.

I have a closing Friday that the Buyer decided to go VA instead of conventional. No problem. Except that last Friday the Appraiser tells me that since Sewer is available, the house has to be hooked up to it. No small feat in 7 days. Somehow on Saturday I was able to locate a local fellow who said he could get the job done.

I met him there yesterday, discussed the process and then went to pick up Cereal. Filled the car.

I met him again this morning with the BackHoe. He wanted me to stick around to make sure we could find the Septic. He found it, busted the plastic clean out pipe, said not to worry he'd find the tank and take care of everything.

It had stopped raining so I called my friend Lee and we got started picking up cereal again. About lunch time I was curious and ran back over there to see how things were coming.

He had this HUGE hole in the lower back yard. Rock everywhere. He said that he couldn't find the "hookup". Hmmmm. But Not to Worry, He'd find it. Hmmmmmmmmm.

Back to Important things...

We finished picking up Cereal and went off to deliver it to the Childrens' Home. This is Jerry. He and his wife Carol have been house parents for over 25 years. They have raised their own children here at the Tennessee Baptist Children's Home and their grandchildren spend a lot of their free time there with their grandparents and the other families.

I have to tell you, this is an incredible organization. They have 7 houses that will house one set of house parents and up to 8 kids. These houses are just like the house you and I grew up in, OR better. 2 kids to a room. 2 rooms to a bathroom. Large Kitchen, Dining and Family rooms. The kids go to public schools (Brentwood schools are some of the Best in Tennessee). If the kids want to go to college, they send them. If they don't want to go to college, but aren't ready to go out on their own, they have apartment like housing there so that they can transition into the work force.

They get almost all of their food from Second Harvest. Never enough cereal. Much of the clothing and toiletries are donated. The house parents earn about $11,000/year each and both work on the property. They are missionaries here at home. No other way to discribe their devotion to these children and the life they have chosen. I am honored to get to volunteer there.

I don't know if Charlie can get that pipe laid in time to close tomorrow or not. I still haven't heard anything about the offer I wrote yesterday. It wasn't even a bad offer. Oh well. I've had a GREAT Day!

It's time to finish trimming the bushes and trees for winter. Brush pickup is scheduled for South Nashville!

The Brush Pick up schedule is Official!

Brush Pickup coming to South Nashville, Davidson County December 23, 2008.

The area covering Nipper's Corner, Holt Woods, Bradford Hills, Stone Creek, Williams Grove, Banbury Crossing, Winfield Park, and Wexford Downs.

We live in area 6. On the map above we are in the yellow section South Center of the city. The area between I-65 South and Nolensville Road.

METRO HAS A FEW SIMPLE RULES TO FOLLOW:

Recycling your Brush and landscape clippings couldn't be easier. Just trim your trees and shrubs and pile them by the curb at the edge of your property.

Seems simple enough. But Sometimes it seems easier to pile it near something, a little more out of your way. Please don't do this. There is a machne that picks it up with a mechanical arm and it can't work around telephone poles, your cars, or the mail box. There is only the driver of the truck, no crew members to move the piles or separate items that do not belong.

And really, more important than that, it's unsightly, disrupts the traffic flow and is terribly inconsiderate of your neighbors!

Lumber, household trash and other types of debris found in your brush pile means IT WILL NOT GET PICKED UP!!
