You gotta love those cool fall days...
Those days that are perfect for raking up a pile of leaves because you can see you breath..
.. and then you find yourself so heated to the core that all you can do is lay down on that same pile of leaves and watch your breath float away in the air.
Of course, those are the moments that the toddlers in your life will try and ruin every plot that you have to really get every leaf picked up...
by laying in them.
tossing them.
pushing them into littler piles.
Making you even warmer trying to keep the leaves all together!

This time of year is full of such color and beauty in Minnesota!
I couldn't help but share a few of my favorite scenes.
Well, that isn't totally true.
Every corner I turn this time of year gives me a new "favorite" snapshot of color and beauty!
Every last tree has something wonderful to share this time of year!
The fruit trees are all bearing fruit...
sharing their bounty.
Shade trees are showing vibrant colors -
sharing light even on the cloudy and rainy fall days.
Some trees are showing their strength and staying green as ever.
No matter where you turn...
No matter what town you are in...
or road that you are traveling...
Fall brings something special.
It brings memories
of diving into leaf piles growing up.
It brings memories of raking leaves as a teenager.
And now it's about building memories with my little ones...
This year I find myself looking for "special" leaves to show my boys.
Collecting beautiful leaves to flatten in my books to play with once they are dry.
Wishing my boys were just a little older and we could play with the leaves inside and out!
For now, the trees look about ready to shake loose so that we can rake up a pile and let the kids jump right in!

Is your mean ol' TV laughing at you?

It could be devastating you know.
In some ways this could be more monumental than the millenium threats.
It's not a "what if" situation but a "matter of time" situation.

With high definition television quickly coming our way we have to look at the options.
1. We can ignore it and head outside when the tv dies....
2. We can wait until the channel is dead and make a mad rush to the store in hopes that there are still some tv's left to buy.
3. We can take advantage of the rebate coupons being distributed by the gov't and get the converter box now.

As of August 1, 2008 all residential homes in Minnesota are required to have CO Detectors.
Carbon Monoxide is a serious threat in Minnesota during the winter heating season.
With the cool starting to inch it's way back into our northern climates we need to be thinking about the effectiveness of our furnaces.
If you don't already have one, now is a great time to get your CO detector installed.
Whether it's a battery, plugin or hardwired unit...
it is worth the time it takes to install.
Maybe now is the time to have your furnace cleaned, serviced and filter changed.

If you are considering OR have your home on the market - it is a great idea to make sure that you are ahead of the game. This new law will require CO detectors installed prior to sale (as I understand) so it's a great thing to do "in advance".
