How Tech-Savvy is Your Agent?
By Andrew Hill @ www.newhomesource.com
As you turn on your laptop or pull out your smart phone, you enter a world of high-speed wireless communication all at the tip of your fingertips. You can access information on everything from where to see a movie to the latest sports statistics. But what about exploring the world of real estate at your finger-tips? What if the next time you decided to buy or sell, you chose a real estate agent that was tech-savvy?
“Tech-savvy”- it sounds great, but what does it really mean?Is it having a blog? A Facebook business page? A Twitter account? The answer is complicated. Having social media sites alone doesn’t make an agent tech savvy. And knowing your way around a smartphone doesn’t necessarily make you a great Realtor. The key is having the technology and putting it to the best use possible.
It’s a combination that takes hard work, but is extremely important in order to give a client the best possible real estate experience. In essence, it’s all about getting a home the maximum exposure possible across a whole new medium. The reality of real estate today is this: you can’t expect a home to sell quickly or for the best price possible if you only use flyers and a for sale sign. In other words, being tech savvy is no longer a recommendation- it’s a requirement.
What makes an agent a technology wiz is an ability to effectively communicate information to buyers and sellers. Afterall, the main advantage of being tech-savvy is that it saves time, and time is valuable. That being said, a tech-savvy Realtor will incorporate easily-recognizable resources for both buyers and sellers. They will also have a powerful home search tool so that their buyers can quickly search properties and sellers’ homes are expertly advertised.A good realtor will use their tech prowess to save their clients time and not simply try to impress them.
Tech savvy Realtors will also be easier to communicate with. Far more than making phone calls or emailing, many agents today are going the extra mile, using texting and/or social media sites like Facebook or Twitter in order to communicate effectively.
The science-fiction technology of the future is no longer a distant dream. It’s here and it’s time to put it to use for all of your real estate ventures. So the next time you are choosing an agent, make sure to choose the one who will put the tech to work for you. -Andrew Hill
