With all the horror stories in the news today it might be time for Retailers to do something a little different. There is the story of the Walmart employee that was trampled to death by the "Door Buster" crowds outside. The 32 year old man couldn't even receive medical attention since people were pushing and shoving the first responders.
Then there was the Toys R Us in Cali that saw two men get in a fight with each other over a toy. The fight escalated to the point that they both SHOT each other and KILLED each other. Unbelievable!
I know even at the Waterbury Toys R Us I went to (5 hours after they opened) it was still a mad house. The isles were littered with toys, police at the front door, and security guards throughout the store, Toys R Us employees trying to restock shelves but the second the put stuff out it is fought over and taken. I cant imagine how it was when they first opened.
One solution is for these large retailers to tone down their in store sales, and step up their on-line sales. Seems like a logical solution to me. It seems like it would help the Retailers too by keeping their labor costs and liability down. What do you think?
