I just wanted to send out a quick note to remind you that this is Bus Driver Appreciation week in Cherokee County. First of all let me say I am a school bus driver and I LOVE IT.
I am realizing now that so many times there is a stigma that kind of goes along with being a school bus driver. And it really hit home when I was talking with a high school student about running a couple of different businesses, doing marketing and building a website and all of the sudden she said "If you're so smart, why are you driving a school bus?" You could immediately tell she thought that school bus driving was on the low end scale of professions. Not something admirable. And it got me to wondering how many others think it's a job for stay at home moms who are no
t qualified or couldn't find any thing Better to do.
When you truly think about it we are put in a position to handle, care for, mentor, protect, correct and encourage over 70 children (our future) every day two times a day. And we do all this while driving a vehicle on the road where we have to keep our eyes focused forward and backwards at all times. We are the first ones to see your children in the morning and the last ones to see them in the afternoon from the school system. And the funny thing is, most of us love what we do. Not to mention the benefits are great and the hours work for those of us who have other businesses.
Most of us say hello, good morning, have a great day or see you later, take care, see you in the morning over 100 times a day and a lot of times it is only to be completely ignored by the ones you're speaking to (this still blows me away) and this is your teenage children who we are training to be our next work force. This is one of the things that truly makes me think that this is a profession that is not as respected as it should be.
If you have school age child that rides the bus (even if your child is a teenager) please don't forget to show them, tell them, send a small note or gift to let them know that you appreciate the fact that they drive your child to school each and every day, and that they take their job seriously.
We are getting lovely cards from your elementary children and I love seeing how they decorate them and the words they write are cute and a lot of them touch my heart. It sure does make me able to say "I love being a bus driver!"

As a home inspector I love sharing tips and information with home owners and I ran across an article that listed several of the top home improvements that could be done for less than five hundred dollars. When you're trying to sell your home one of the best things to check is your curb appeal. 
1. Wall paper just one wall in a room - this alone can change the appearance of a room dramatically and yet still be affordable.
2. Kitchen roll outs - take out the out dated shelves and add kitchen roll outs. This is one of the most satisfying upgrades you can do. It brings everything that was tucked away into sight. (Don't tell my wife, I can just see this being added to my honey do list!) They say this only takes 15 minutes per rollout, Let me know your opinion.
3. Track lighting - this is another addition to our home that my wife wants to add. Track lighting lets you put the lighting exactly where you want it. My wife has an island that she wants to add this to. (I see my list growing.)
4. Closet organized - The name of this one says it all. Wire shelving is inexpensive and easy to install. Organization is the key to happiness.
5. Add curb appeal - transform your front entrance with small accents and minor changes.

Breana and I went up to the Ellijay mountains to visit with my parents and ran across this beautiful subdivision called Black Bear Ridge Mountain sitting well off the beaten path. Ever since we purchased the flip video we try and take it every where we go. We have such a great time with it. I took several videos while visiting with my parents. I tried to locate the Black Bear Ridge Mountain community again on the map and couldn't so I did the next best thing, I have inclued some great real estate agents from the area to help you.
One of them is Donna Yates she's all about getting you the lifestyle you desire and deserve, then you also have Kim Southern who sells with Southern Hospitality, that in itself says a lot, and last but not least, Patty Ledford who spends a great deal of time working with her clients, going above and beyond, if you wish to know exactly where this magnificent place is. The veiws from the whole community were spectacular. The cabin in the video is my favorite.

I am a transplant from Washington, PA and I moved here in 1985 due to a lack of work in the construction industry. I have always been in some type of construction, from working for builders to owning my own business. I love owning my own company for the added time that I get to spend with my family and at church. In 1990 I met Bonnie, my wife, she's a native Georgian and had never been north until she married me. She worked in a corporate job working for a prosthetic company until about 3 years ago and she retired because of the drive to downtown Atlanta every day. She now drives a school bus, and we always have stories to laugh about at dinner time. Kids are so interesting. We have been married 16 years, 17 in January and we have two wonderful kids. Daniel is 15, just turned 15 in September and right now is the family chauffeur. He is one that I don't believe will really have to learn to drive, he just knows how and does really great at it. He is also learning to fly airplanes and loves it. He is part of a group (he works on the ground crew in exchange for flight time) called the Tiger-flights. They're located in Rome and give kids free airplane rides, you should check them out. My daughter is Breana and she is going to be ten in Dec. and she is a joy and a daddy's girl. She has played baseball since she was 3 and has been first baseman on a boys' team for the last 3 years. She has a glove that is incredible. There is nothing girly girl about her, even though my wife has tried. I remember playing ball and my Dad not being able to be there and I can say that in the years of my son's and my daughter's life, I have missed very little. For that I am very thankful. I work mainly in the Canton, Woodstock, Alpharetta, Cumming and Roswell areas but I do travel to the North Georgia area, simply because it's a great area and my in-laws live up there, so it's a great excuse to stop in and visit. :-)
