Summer brings out all the picnic baskets that have been packed away all winter to make way for summer concerts in the park. A small park right in the midde of the homes bodering the canals is La Bella Fontana di Napoli. This very unique park can be found between the streets Ravenna Drve and Corinthian Walk. It reminds me of a little town on the Amalfi Coast in Italy. Standing in the middle of the park with all its splendor is a three tierd fountain that creates a wonderful back drop for everyone to enjoy. Orderng a picnic and spirits from Morry's of Naples is popular among the picnickers. There are several parks in Long Beach that participate in the summer concerts. Check the websites to make sure you will be among the crowd to participate and have an incredible experience. Summer Concerts begin in the end of June and go through the month of August.
Approximately 4 miles South of downtown Long Beach is a charming neighborhood called Naples. Naples reminds me of a small village on the Amalfi Coast. Flanked with its beautiful homes along the romantic canals, Naples offers some amazing boutique restaurants, memorable ride on the Gondola which makes you feel like you just arrived in Venice, Italy. Since 1982 the Gondola Getaway has been popular among the residents, celebrated by couples for their anniversary, hosted by many for birthday parties and very popular during Christmas and Valentine Day celebrations. My favorite is the "Naples Island Christmas Boat Parade" with a fleet of private decorated boats journeying through the canals of Naples and around Alamitos Bay. Everyone is in a festive mood and the approximate 1.5 miles of homes around the canal and in Naples are elaborately decorated for young and old to enjoy from the last week of November through the 1st day of January. This has been a tradition since 1946. Naples is the home of the Long Beach Yacht Club which hosts many events year round for the resident and their guests - and the best part is that you don't have to own a boat to join in on the fun.
