"Call for the dumpster and haul it all out!" Can you imagine hearing those words from your family members or children? You've done a great job raising your family, lived a good life. You collected trinkets from vacations, special occasions, and possibly precious antique pieces from family members that hold special memories for you of your life. Are your treasurers now reduced to the trash? Will those memories find their way to the dumpster?
The aging population is facing hard decisions. Do they downsize now and move into a ranch condo or independent living community? Do they play the waiting game? Wait and see, I don't have to move yet. Adult children can feel guilty because they don't have free time to help with the downsizing process. Your children are busy being parents too. When can they go back home help Mom and Dad? Out of frustration, the solution is reduced to, "Call in the dumpster, you don't need that anymore!"
Aging Americans view all of this as a form of giving up and losing control. But, why not take control? The downsizing process can be fun and a walk down memory lane. Professionals trained in the senior move management process can assist and guide you through the downsizing and move transition. Certified Relocation Transition Specialist, Carolyn Stieger provides the solutions to the obstacles you are facing and holding you back.

We Stage Greater Detroit, professional home staging professional master, Carolyn Stieger would like to address the difference between Home Staging and Interior Design
Home Staging is not Interior Design. See the Wikipedia condensed definitions for both categories below.
Home staging is the act of preparing a private residence for sale in the real estate marketplace. The goal of staging is to make a home appealing to the highest number of potential buyers, thereby selling a property more swiftly and for more money. Staging techniques focus on improving a property's appeal by transforming it into a welcoming, attractive product that anyone might want. Many people believe that staging raises the value of a property by way of reducing the home's flaws, depersonalizing, de-cluttering, cleaning, improving its general condition and landscaping
Interior design is a multi-faceted profession in which creative and technical solutions are applied within a structure to achieve a built interior environment. These solutions are functional, enhance the quality of life and culture of the occupants, and are aesthetically attractive. Designs are created in response to and coordinated with code and regulatory requirements, and encourage the principles of environmental sustainability.
The interior design process follows a systematic and coordinated methodology, including research, analysis and integration of knowledge into the creative process, whereby the needs and resources of the client are satisfied to produce an interior space that fulfills the project goals.[1]
They plan the spaces of almost every type of building including: hotels, corporate spaces, schools, hospitals, private residences, shopping malls, restaurants, theaters, and airport terminals. Today, interior designers must be attuned to architectural detailing including floor plans, home renovations, and construction codes. Some interior designers are architects as well.
Did that clear up the confusion between Home Staging and Interior Design?
What else will you need to know to hire the right company to prepare your home for sale?
•· Is the company insured?
•· Are you going to over pay for the wrong professional?
•· Have they been trained or did they just decide they wanted to be a Home Stager?
•· Will there be updates and repairs or a remodel?
•· Does the company work with Realtors? Understanding the process of selling real estate is very
important in preparing homes for sale

We Stage Greater Detroit goes beyond Home Staging, we also offer Senior Move Services. Our services can start the day the offer is accepted. Your seller is under pressure to get the move started and get it finished by the closing date. Our goal is to work within the sellers time frame to move before they have to pay for additional days to "rent back" their house they just sold.
Senior Move Services can manage the project from down sizing through the entire move. We Stage Greater Detroit takes the worry out of the move. By assisting with the sorting, decisions on what will fit and what needs to find a new home, we work closely with the seller/client.
Realtors find us a great resource to expidete the move and get the job done.
