One of the great reasons I live here in Western North Caroina is the climate, the four distinct seasons, that I have come to know and love. Yesterday in Brevard, I was enjoying the great weather and soaking up the sunshine, and looked down and noticed a 'Blond' morel mushroom in the yard. If you know and appreciate wild mushrooms, you know that this is one of the most prized and very rare. The search was on! If there was one, there would be others. Mushrooms have been known to pop up anywhere, however, they are not predictable as to when they will show up.
After searching the entire area, we came away with seven very nice specimens. I would say that it was over a pound. A great prize for an afternoon spent in the outdoors. I will try to have a picture uploaded next time.
Mushroom hunters get out there, the game is afoot!
