I am so excited about tomorrow! Why? Well it's Missions Sunday at Faith Evangelical Bible Church in Valparaiso, Indiana. We're having missionaries from near and far (Chicago through India) speaking about how God is using them in their ministries. Isn't that something to look forward to?
Then after the service the fellowship continues with a lunch. What's for lunch? Well, it's just good old-fashioned, simple homecooking: fried chicken, pot roast. mashed potatoes, green beans, carrots, and a variety of salads and desserts. Join us and I promise you will not leave hungry.
You know, as good and fun as I know the lunch is going to be, it will not compare to the Wedding Feast that we have to look forward to!
Please come join us tomorrow, Sunday, October 17, 2009 for our Missions Sunday at Faith Evangelical Bible Church, 305 E 400 N, Valparaiso, Indiana. The service starts at 9:15 and lunch follows. If you drop by, find me and say hello.
The change of seasons is in the air in Valparaiso, Indiana! Can you see feel it? Can you see it?
I can feel it when I walk outside in the morning and a get a blast of cool, crisp, damp air. I see it in the leaves changing colors and falling off their branches. I feel it when I get up and shiver until I get my robe on. I see when I look out at my yard and realize that I should really rake some leaves and clean up my flowerbeds. Maybe I'll do that tomorrow......yes, tomorrow.
I also see it doing ordinary, everyday things such as grocery shopping. Berries were plentiful and so good just a few weeks ago. Now they are not so looking so good. What has replaced them? Well, gourds, of course. All shapes, sizes, and colors - fall colors. Oh, and apples are at their best too. Yes, it's time for pumpkin pie and apple pie. Fresh out the oven with whipped cream for the pumpkin and ice cream for the apple. Am I making you hungry yet?
Yes, a change of seasons is definitely in the air in Valparaiso, Indiana and I love it! Snow will be on the ground before long. The entire landscape looks different in the snow. For now, we have lots of leaves ready to fall but soon............SNOWBALLS! Watch out, I may just get you!

Do you remember that show from years past "Kids Say the Darndest Things". First, it was hosted by Art Linkletter and a few years later by Bill Cosby. Kids have such a unique perspective on life. As adults, we do not give kids enough credit for seeing things even more clearly than we do at times.
At the Service Memorial in Valparaiso, Indiana, there are some of those kid's perspectives on friendship, hope, and charity. These kids understand friendship, hope, and charity. Have a look for yourself.
For those of you who are too young to have experienced "Kids Say the Darndest Things," click on this link for a You Tube clip of the show. I guarantee it will make you laugh.
After 30 years of marriage, there is one thing my husband, Mark, definitely knows and understands about me and that's my love of chocolate! He just got back from spending 12 days in Hawaii and guess what he brought back - a box of gourmet chocolates from Kona Hawaii! Man oh man, are they good!
I'm trying so hard to be good and just eat one a day but it sure is difficult. He also brought home a box of chocolate covered macadamia nuts. I've had those before from Hawaii and I already know they are awesome. Once the box gets opened up, they will be gone quickly.
Now, Jess' love is coffee so she was treated to Hawaiian coffee beans. I'm not a coffee drinker but it sure smells delicious when it is brewing.
Since Mark is a pilot, he travels quite a bit all around the world. Unfortunately, we don't get to go with him too often but the surprises when he gets home are sure nice!
Yes, I am enjoying a piece of gourmet chocolate from Kona Hawaii as I write this post. Hey, it's my inspiration! OK, so I didn't need the inspiration and I just wanted an extra piece of chocolate tonight. As the saying goes "Happy Wife, Happy Life".
Have a great night everyone and enjoy a piece of chocolate!
