Regarding HOA Dues on a Short Sale with Countrywide

I have a current short sale with Countrywide and it's a townhouse in the city of Brentwood. Is it typical for the lenders to only pay back property taxess and not the delinquent HOA dues? If or if not have you had any experience with any lenders forgiving the HOA dues that are owed? I'm trying to negotiate the dues but I was told immediatley that they do not pay them at all.

Housing Activity in Pleasanton California

As of 3/18/2009 the multiple listing service is reporting 49 active short sales in Pleasanton ranging from $200,000 up to $1,500,000. There a total of 277 total active listings, 60 total pending sales in which 18 of the pending sales are short sales. In the past 6 months there have been 83 total home sales reported and 5 of them were sold short sales.
