Asheville Authors TODAY: ADAM GAINSBURG

Founder, Soulsign Astrologer

It’s Asheville Authors Book Week here at my blog. Today I’m delighted to introduce
ADAM GAINSBURG
of Founder of Soulsign Astrology. I met Adam a number of years ago while I was on a book tour for one of my own books. We met at an Expo in Denver and stayed in touch over the next few years. Adam came to Asheville to offer his web and marketing expertise, and ended up staying at our Author’s Retreat. He mentions that "long winter" in this YouTube Video.

Adam has now authored four CDs, numerous mp3′s and videos, as well as three astrology books. His fourth, tenatively titled, Bridges of Union is due out this year. (2012) According to his web site, “Adam is also the originator of an elegant breath meditation practice, known as Breath of the Soul®.” One of my favorite quotes from Adam:

“The future, our future, relies on improving our ability to be with one another, to create together, listen better, feel deeper and part ways amicably. The world will change before our eyes when 51% or more of us are more interested in helping, supporting, nourishing and looking out for others than ourselves first.”

Asheville Authors TODAY (2) Don Silver, Novelist- Gritty Literary Thrillers

It’s Asheville Authors Book Week here at my blog. Today I’m delighted to introduce
novelist Don Silver. View from Asheville Author's Retreat

Rich in literary tradition, Asheville and the Western North Carolina mountains continue to attract and inspire today's celebrated authors, like Don, a most interesting fellow! Just out of college, Don was hired by Clive Davis (who currently plays a part in the careers of Alicia Keys, Rod Stewart, Jennifer Hudson, Kelly Clarkson and Harry Connick, Jr.,.to name just a few) ...to be Manager of A&R (Artists and Repertoire) at Arista Records in New York. Don found material for artists like Air Supply and Barry Manilow – “songs which have haunted American couples and cover bands for over two decades.”

Pretty soon, Don started a music production company, which produced a top 10 Disco hit, two rock albums and a studio album by the group, Orleans, which was actually never released because the recorddon silver backward-facing man company went bankrupt. So, Don returned to Philadelphia to work for his family's manufacturing company until, in 1999, they sold our family business.

That’s when Don began to pursue the writing life And that is just about the time he decided to move to Asheville and I had the good fortune to meet him! Don and his family are the kind of neighbors Asheville is famous for…engaging, creative and eco-smart. (No, I’m not saying this just because Don wrote a lovely testimonial for my Profile here at Active Rain!) Here’s a link to a “down-to-earth” site planning video in which Don’s consulting with a LEED contractor at his home site at Creston Community just outside of Asheville …Interesting!

Over the years, Don has made use of our Asheville Author’s Retreat. The sunrise can be inspiring (see photo) as can the quiet at our cabin at Spirit Ridge here in Asheville. In fact, it pleases me no-end to be able to say that Don’s first novel, Backward-Facing Man was written, at least in part, there. Of that novel, the New York Times said, “Mr. Silver’s unusual perspective and wide-range of material are enough to make this a memorably offbeat debut.” (New York Times ) And if/when you come to Asheville, I’ll happily show you my signed copy of the First Edition!

Asheville Authors TODAY- GREG HOTTINGER, Weight Issues & Management- Asheville Author's Retreat

Weight Issues & Management

It’s Asheville Authors Book Week here at my blog, and today I’m celebrating Greg Hottinger and his work as a Coach Yourself Thinfitness coach and Expert at The Biggest Loser.com . Greg, who came to stay at our Asheville Authors Retreat for a month or so, stayed for a year while completing his first book, The Best Natural Foods on the Market Today, http://www.bestnaturalfoods.com/ which, by the way, I gave to all my friends for their birthdays. It is full of useful information, delicious recipes, and suggestions.

Over the time he spent at our Asheville Author’s Retreat, we became fast friends. Greg, who met his wife during that time and moved to (OH NO! Colorado!) and I have stayed in touch since then. I was so excited to hear aobut his second book. It arrived a few days ago.Entitled, Coach Yourself Thin, (see photo) it about knocked my socks off!

As Prevention blogger, Melissa Roberson writes,

“ I have worked alongside authors Greg Hottinger and Michael Scholtz on the Biggest Loser Club website for the past six years and have never come across more compassionate, respectful and knowledgeable coaches when it comes to weight loss–an endeavor that is fraught with self-hatred, negativity and a bit too much of all-or-nothing thinking. I know, I’m a life-long struggler with weight issues and I’ve seen, heard and thought it all… People know the real thing when they hear it. And these guys are real. They’ve worked for years with overweight clients and have put together an honest, encouraging approach to weight loss. As an editor of the site, I must say I had enough sense to leave them alone and let them do their thing with our members. I knew they were speaking the truth, and I knew they were helping people. That was enough in my book…Weight loss is hard. There’s no way around that. It’s a process that takes commitment and ongoing application. And I don’t know if anyone can do it alone. If they do, it must be a lonely road of suffering. But it doesn’t have to be. I encourage you to invite Greg and Michael into your lives with this book. You’ll be richer for it, I promise.”
