My wife Amanda and I are both Realtors here in Fort Wayne, IN. We work together and are a team, but we each have our own websites, business cards, and both do our own marketing. My strength is lead generation and internet marketing/networking, and her strength is her knowledge and ability to read people and really listen to what they are looking for and finding it! Perfect team right? Right!

Well, this weekend we had the opportunity to pick an experienced Broker's brain. Deborah Gillen, Florida Moves, is dating Amanda's father and has been a Broker in Decatur, Illinois for years and has been a Broker in Hollywood, Florida for a year now. It's a shock that she had any brain left because we SERIOUSLY asked about 100 questions!! Let's see, 4 days, 100 questions... that's 25 a day! Thanks Deborah!!

One of the questions she asked us was WHY THE HECK AREN'T YOU MARKETING TOGETHER AS A TEAM????

Um...

Then the LIGHT BULB came on. Well, to be honest, it flickered at first, then came on.

We are getting together with a friend tomorrow to have her take pictures of us and then it begins!!! My big focus has been FORT WAYNE REALTOR JARED CHRISTIANSEN... well those days are over.

Here are some of the thoughts I have had:

Jared and Amanda... It's a good thing Amanda is there to help because Jared is an IDIOT!

Okay, that last one was just for a laugh. I hope. :)

I would love to get some input from some more experienced agents out there. What do you think about marketing as a team? Any advice, concerns, insights?

It has been right there the whole time... just needed somebody to help me see it. WELL DUH!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just started a blog post about the buyers I am working with now. About two paragraphs into it I thought to myself...

SELF... What would they think if they saw my blog post about them?

I was going to say NICE things about them and talk about how much FUN they are to be around and I love the fact that they know EXACTLY what they want. Of course I was going to say a little more before I questioned myself.

I remember a few months ago one of my clients was also a friend of mine on Facebook. I wrote on his wall:

HEY BILLY BOB, CAN'T WAIT TO SHOW YOU THE HOUSE TOMORROW! YOU ARE GOING TO LOVE IT!!!

Billy Bob quickly emailed me and said: JARED!!! Please DO NOT broadcast what I am doing to everybody! My family is here on Facebook and they have no idea that we are buying a home and they have no idea about our financial status and I want it to STAY THAT WAY!!!

Lesson learned! LOL!!! Luckily that client is still working with me.

Anybody else have that sort of experience? Care to share?
