I just read a blog where somebody was venting about what they love and hate about selling real estate. I don't like to focus on the negative so I decided to write a blog about the things I LOVE about being a Realtor here in Fort Wayne:
I LOVE it when a client finds their DREAM HOME!
I LOVE it when I get that excitement of a new lead.
I LOVE that I can set my own hours.
I LOVE it when a Seller is realistic about the price of their home and doesn't want to list it for $20,000 over it's true value.
I LOVE it when a Seller get's a good offer on their home.
I LOVE when a Seller understands that their home needs to be in top shape and CLEAN and needs to be ready to show in 2 hours if needed.
I LOVE it when a Buyer doesn't spend a lot of time in a house when they know as soon as they walk in that it's not their home.
I LOVE when a Buyer makes a strong offer on a home and doesn't make that low ball offer of $79,900 on a $140,000 listing!
I LOVE it when a Seller walks in to a showing and looks at me and says: "Jared, this feels like home. I want it."
I LOVE that I work with the Broker that I do. Mary Sherer with RE/MAX Home Connection is the BEST!!!
I absolutely LOVE that I work with my beautiful wife Amanda and that we build each other up, not on in this crazy business, but in life. I am a lucky guy.

How many different ways do you market your listing? Here is a list of what we do... would love to hear if I have missed any ideas you may have.
1. MLS (I know some agents that only do this)
2. There's the obvious: SIGNS in the yard and directional signs around the neighborhood.
3. MLS Email blast that sends the new listing to other agents in town.
4. One of my favorites: www.Point2Agent.com. This awesome site blasts your listing to over 30 sites.
6. My Active Rain Blog
7. Craigslist (Even though I get more spam calls than anything from that site anymore)
8. Open houses (even though I DESPISE them and think they can be a waste of time, if my Seller wants they get one.
9. Newspaper ad, but only with listings in smaller towns where people actually still read the paper.
10. And my absolute favorite:
If my Sellers are on Facebook I quickly befriend them and when they see me blasting their listing to my group of 1,000 friends (and counting) they love it.

I'm in my 10th month of being a Realtor here in Fort Wayne. When I started doing showings I thought that was the most fun part! Then I started having closings and thought that was the most fun part! Then I started getting creative with my closing gifts and I have to tell you...
THAT IS THE MOST FUN!!!!!!!
I started off just getting gift cards for my Buyers. Then I started taking a picture of them during our final walk through and making post cards with the picture on it and a caption that says "Dave and Emily have moved!" The cards look something like THIS. It has return addresses on the back and also our information. They can send those to all their friends!
Then I really started listening to my clients...
Last Sunday during Terrell's final walk through I heard him mumble about all the leaves in the yard. He also talked about how he doesn't even have a leaf blower and won't have time to get one until the following weekend.
Well that's a NO BRAINER!
After I took their picture Sunday night (you can see that here) I slid back over there Monday morning before closing and blew ALL their leaves into a nice big pile. I filled their kitchen counter top with a bottle of champagne, a big can of Blue Diamond almonds, a thank you card and a framed picture of them from the night before. Then at closing I gave them an envelope with their post cards in them plus a few of my magnets.
THAT is my favorite thing about being a Fort Wayne Realtor!
