What a crock of garbage this is. Just a sad attempt to try and wield your useless power around and maybe collect some fines in the process. How about trying to do something useful instead of being Big Brother to police a social networking site. You should all be ashamed of yourselves.
Several things have taken place with regard to area businesses in the Poconos and I want to share with you my thoughts on some of these. Let us start with the good. Lewis' True Value Hardware has completed its' move from the small congested Mignosi's Foodtown Plaza and has moved to the old Starting Gate building on Rt. 209 and the corner of Keystone Road. The new store allows for double their inventory with the dramatic increase in square footage and has enough room in the back to allow for lumber sales. Parking is going to be a more pleasant experience as well. Congratulations to the Lewises for their over 20 years of service to the community and their great new location.
Next, the bad. Sam Sneads, the longtime franchised establishment that bears the legendary late golfers' name is no longer. Now it is called "The Gem and Keystone". HUH?! This may be one of the biggest blunders in the history of local business. Sam Snead's has only a handful of restaurant/taverns across the United States and each one is a destination. From the golf memorabilia, to the themed menu to signature drinks (Bombay Sapphire and Schwepps tonic with fresh blue cheese stuffed olives was my favorite there and you can only get those blue cheese stuffed olives at Sam Sneads), Sam Snead (both the golfer and the restaurant) had a history there and to mess with that is an insult to both locals and to the tourists who looked forward to learning and sharing the rich history there. I am staging my own personal boycott in protest. I used to go several times a year with family and friends, but now - later. I used to love their seared tuna sashimi and their steaks. Oh well, now instead of a special niche you had to draw on, now you will become just another dime-a-dozen eatery whose parking lot I saw barren tonight during prime time dinner hours.
Last, but not least..The Ugly. The Pocono Playhouse in Mountainhome was gutted by fire over the weekend. This historic building has hosted many legendary performers such as Gloria Vanderbilt, Ted Knight, Cybill Shepherd, John Travolta, Larry Hagman and many others. This is a major economic and cultural loss for the area and let us hope that the playhouse can be rebuilt and get back in action soon.
I am happy to announce that I picked up 3 land listings through a fellow Weichert, Realtor who is from NJ and who had a past client who owns land in the Poconos. I immediately followed up with her and she appreciated my immediate response and I am going to be Express Mailing the listing packages to her on Monday. While land is currently a hard sell, I am going to do my best as she is paying maintance fees and taxes on lots she never plans to build on. Going to be priced for a quick sale, stayed tuned for these beautiful 1 acre lots in an amenity filled community.
