Life Along the Highline Canal - Pelican Pointe At The Breakers

Located just south of Lowry, this quiet gated community is a hidden jewel. Sitting off the beaten path, several blocks south of Alameda, this upscale townhome community enjoys easy proximity to first-class shopping, recreation and entertainment, while being isolated from the noise and congestion of the city. Part of the master planned resort-style Breakers community, Pelican Pointe homeowners have free access to the Breakers lake and trail, and, in exchange for a modest monthly fee, may also enjoy membership in the Catamaran Club, a 26,000 sq.ft. world-class recreation center. Bordered on one side by the Highline Canal, Pelican Pointe homeowners enjoy direct access to one of Denver's most popular recreational trails.

Built in the late 1900's by Colonnade Homes, these spacious contemporary townhomes have open floor plans, high ceilings and are filled with natural light. All five floor plans have as standard features: a gas fireplace, large master bedroom with 5-piece bath, main floor laundry, private patio and an attached 2-car garage. Many of the homes also have a bonus room which is accessed from the patio - ideal for an office, exercise area, hobby or storage area. Pelican Pointe at the Breakers is located at 8300 Fairmount Drive.

To Be Treasured and Enjoyed - Denver's Highline Canal!

The Highline Canal provides a wonderful outdoor experience that Coloradans should all treasure and enjoy! Built to provide irrigation water, it was completed in 1883. Today, it is a designated National Landmark Trail, owned and operated by Denver Water.

The Highline Canal provides 71 miles of waterway and carries water that is 4 to 7 feet deep. Running alongside the canal, is 66-miles of paved or hard-packed pathways providing a recreational wonderland for hiking, biking, jogging, horseback riding, or just a quiet walk. Please remember that for the enjoyment of all, pets must be on a leash and individuals are responsible for cleaning up after their pets.

Loved by many, the Highline Canal offers an opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors while getting some exercise. Some use it for recreational purposes and others use it as way to bike to work. "Bike-to-Work Day" each year includes celebration points along the Highline Canal. I love the story two of my past clients told about meeting at one of the stops along the canal on "Bike-to-Work Day" - they later got married. One of the things that makes a trip along the canal so special, is the opportunity to enjoy the four seasons that Colorado has to offer. Fall is one of my favorites times along the canal as the Aspens are in full color and can be seen along the trail. Neighborhoods along the canal have easy access to the trail, which is a special feature enjoyed by homeowners.

As a past participant in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, I trained for 6 months and walked many, many miles along the Highline Canal and I enjoyed every minute of it!
