The annual SouthbridgeFEST returns to downtown Southbridge featuring music, food and fun on Saturday, June 6, 2009 from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Musical acts, a parade, events and activities will be taking place at the Town Common. The SouthbridgeFEST parade will begin at 11 a.m. Residents, organizations and businesses are encouraged to participate in events, the parade, set up a booth or donate to the cause. I was on-line reading the latest scams to watch out for on www.ripoffreport.comand I came across something interesting. Under the credit section it explained that "free credit reports" are not really free. I've seen that commercial for freecreditreport.com as I'm sure most of you have. Has that catchy song with the same dude in every commercial complaining about his girlfriend having bad credit so they are stuck renting a home instead of buying. Well...I've gone on the site and it's setup similar to Lending Tree's site where you can get the credit monitoring. You can sign-up for your free report, but you must give a credit card and cancel service with them within the 30 day free trial period because you automatically get put in their credit monitoring program. It is better if you contact the credit bureaus directly: Experian, Transunion or Equifax to see your credit history. Every consumer is entitled to 1 free credit report per year at www.annualcreditreport.com. Know where your credit stands and don't be tricked into some monitoring program that you didn't know you were signing up for.

James and I were talking and we were trying to come up with good ways to give back to the community. We live in a smaller community and not much goes on out here in "the woods". I was wondering what kind of things we could do to give back or help out the community. What do you see in your town that works well?
I'm sure food and clothing are always needed...but how do you go about distributing it? We'd like to start up something that we could keep up like a tradition and get more and more people involved. I want to get the agents in my office on board as well, but I'm just looking around for some ideas of what we could do (outside the obvious so we can get people up and excited about it).
