There are lot of events going on in La Conner these days. The Smithsonian Exhibit EXPLORING AMERICA'S FOOD TRADITIONS runs through January 4 and so far the reviews have been great!
If you happen to go to La Conner, you might see some strange pedistains walking about town.
The first La Conner turkeys, a male & female, chose La Conner as their home in spring of 2004. Eight chicks appeared the next spring, and by Thanksgiving of 2005, the mayor of La Conner declared them the official town mascot, and the rest is history!!

Talk Turkey is thought to be friendly and open conversation which comes from the first interactions of colonists with native Americans. The expression quit cold turkey has to do with what a plucked turkey looks like....goose bumps!
The turkey trot was a jerky dance popular int the early 1900's a was later replaced by the fox trot.
