Over 65? Claim the Homestead Exemption

Remind your older clients about the homestead exemption to property tax. You may apply to the County Auditor's Office for the Homestead Exemption discount only for your legal residence if you are:

  • 65 years old on or before December 31 preceding the tax year in which you wish to claim the exemption;
  • totally and permanently disabled;
  • legally blind; or
  • at least 50 years of age when your spouse (who was eligible for the Homestead Exemption) died.
To find out more about the tax on real estate, contact the assessor in the county where the property is located

Its Great To Be Busy Again

I had almost forgotten how great it feels to be busy again. I had a closing today that sold within two days of the listing date, I have just put another listing under contract, and have two listing appointments for later on this week. It feels so good to be busy again, I will never complain about being too busy ever again.

The Time To Buy

Now is surly the very best time to buy a home. The inventory is there, it is a buyers market, for the most part prices are right, the rate are great, and for first time home buyers, you may be able to get a tax credit that is available to first time home buyers. So you will have to agree, now is the time to buy.

Upstate Of South Carolina

We are so lucky to be able to live and work in the upstate area of South Carolina.

Our Real Estate Market has been down, but not to the point of other areas in some parts

of our country. This is a beautiful place to live also. The mountains are less than an hour

away one way and the coast three to four hours the other way. We can have it all.

Weather For Ducks

The last few days, the weather here in the upstate of South Carolina has been for ducks. I am the first to say we need the rain, but do we have to have so much all at once. I hear we will have rain several days this coming week. I guess the duck will be happy.
