I can assure you that this week saw some change but it is really hard to tell by the photographs. All week long we could hear concrete trucks going by, along with 10 wheel dump trucks hauling dirt and rocks.
If you look close you can see the first stage in framing on some of the foundations. This is the sill plate which is typically bolted to the concrete.
Every time I go over to look around the barn looks like it has been worked on.
This is a photo from the East Side looking towards the lake or west. The pool hole is on the left which they are pumping water from 24 hours a day.
OK, just a thought but what if the government stopped interfering and propping up failed businesses. Stopped dumping billions of dollars into failed credit markets and just made money available at an interest rate of say 4.5%?
I know the Federal Reserve just lowered interest rates to 1% but that does little or nothing to the home buyer or the home owner that wants to finance or re-finance a property.
Wouldn't it be a much better idea for that home owner that already has a 6% mortgage to refinance and hopefully hang on instead of turning in their keys? Right now my local bank has a 30 year fixed rate, 0 points for 6.75%. This is up almost a point from this summer, please note that the rate went up! Even while we have gone through the stock market decline, Fed interest rate cute, and billion dollar bail out.
I have little doubt that a truely lower rate that directly affects the consumer will stimulate the economy, by reducing the home inventory that is for sale, create jobs and get us out of this troubled time. Give this interest rate two months and see what happens.
It's 10/31/2008 and the blasting seems to be stopped. I haven't hear a noise or felt the ground shake for several days now. As you will see from the photos there are plenty of large rocks left but there is quite a large hole in the ground for the pool.
Several men were still working on the foundation for the main building while I took the photo's. It is also apparent that there is some additional work to be done to the barn on the non lake side.
My blog has been customized!!
The header photo is of a sunset that occurred this summer. I was on my way from Springfield New Hampshire to New London New Hampshire, crested a hill and this is what was right in front of me. We get great sunsets but this one had to be the best one I've seen in a long time.
My background is of Eastman Lake. A 325 acre lake located in the community of Eastman, in the town of Grantham, New Hampshire.
