Green Team Arrowhead is a non-profit organization I established to bring sustainability to my community of Lake Arrowhead, nestled in the pine & oak forests of the San Bernardino Mountains of Southern California. We are a unique destinationarea that offers full-time & part-time residents and visitors, an incomparable experience of the absolute beauty of nature and fresh air.

Views of Lake Arrowhead

We want to maintain that!

Hence we have set out to educate our neighbors, from Cedar Pines Park to Green Valley Lake, why and how to maintain and, better yet, sustain our Eco-Balance.

Below is a wonderful announcement by the San Bernardino County Supervisors who govern our unincorporated area, that they will go beyond words and encourage and reward companies and providers who practice a GREEN philosophy. I applaud the Supervisors for their boldness.

This is the Arrowhead Green Team's Mission Statement : Uniting people in the creation of an economically and environmentally sustainable planet starting with our mountain communities.

PRESS RELEASE:

"

"SAN BERNARDINO- The Board of Supervisors adopted a new policy to encourage County Departments to consider energy and water efficiency and other environmental factors when purchasing products and services.

The Environmentally Preferable Purchasing policy aims to reduce waste and to prompt County vendors and service providers to be more environmentally friendly.

"The County of San Bernardino spends about $350 million annually on products and services, and that means County Departments can make a huge difference by simply taking environmental considerations into account when they are making purchasing decisions," said Second District Supervisor Paul Biane, who requested the policy.

The County Purchasing Department is developing detailed standard practices that will - among other things - identify environmentally preferable products and services, list hazardous substances targeted for reduction, and provide legal language for County bids and contracts.

Under the new policy, County Departments will have the ability to procure products and services that are environmentally friendly even if the products and services cost more than the lowest bid. However, the policy also provides County Departments with the flexibility to select the lowest cost product or service if the environmentally friendly alternative is too costly or does not meet the needs of the Department."

  • What are you doing to direct your community to take action?
  • Please let me know, Green Team Arrowhead is open to new ideas and strategies.
  • If we all work together we CAN change the world!
  • All it takes is ONE person, ONE community to affect the entire world.

Official Google Blog

At Google, our goal is to create the most comprehensive, relevant and fast search in the world. In the past few years, an entirely new type of data has emerged - real-time updates like those on Twitter have appeared not only as a way for people to communicate their thoughts and feelings, but also as an interesting source of data about what is happening right now in regard to a particular topic.

Given this new type of information and its value to search, we are very excited to announce that we have reached an agreement with Twitter to include their updates in our search results. We believe that our search results and user experience will greatly benefit from the inclusion of this up-to-the-minute data, and we look forward to having a product that showcases how tweets can make search better in the coming months. That way, the next time you search for something that can be aided by a real-time observation, say, snow conditions at your favorite ski resort, you'll find tweets from other users who are there and sharing the latest and greatest information.

Beautiful Lake Arrowhead

I believe that we should join together , personally and professionally, to reach goals and make changes in our lives and hence our Real Estate business. In my market of gorgeous Lake Arrowhead, CA, I am focusing on that philosophy.

Here's one idea I have implemented: Every week all agents from Prime Properties and I go on tour. We view our agency listings of course, but more important, we notice other agent's listings that we deem to be PRIME PICKS. We then note them and add them to our website and have a PRIME PICKS list available at our Welcome Center. It works for our clients, our agents and all agents in our market.

Hence we go beyond COMPETITION >TO COOPERATION... and we reach CO-CREATION! That's what we are about, CO-CREATION.

See how it works at www.TheRealEstatePlace.com> click on Property Listings > then PRIME PICKS. You'll see our listings as well as other local agency listings. That our my way of Co-Creating Business!

Visionaries presented by Jan Skrentny

"Visionaries"

October 24th, 2009 "Visionaries" Series to Begin:

Rene Lagler First Speaker

If you've ever complained that: "There's nothing to do in the mountains" - or nothing to do where you live...read on carefully.

An exceptional evening devoted to a gathering of fascinating people over gourmet foods and superb wine pairings will be held Saturday, October 24th, 2009, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Lake Arrowhead Welcome Center - located at the intersection of Highway 189 and Daley Canyon in Agua Fria.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the Mountains Community Hospital Foundation. Reservations are $75.00 per person. Seating is limited to 40. Contact Jan at 909-908-8520 or email jan@ILoveLakeArrowhead.com

Presented by Jan Skrentny, the first Visionary speaker will be five time Emmy award winning production designer and art director, Rene Lagler.

This will be the first time Rene, a long time mountain resident, will be discussing his much sought after design work which includes: The Olympics of 1984, The Papal Visit of 2008, the CNN sets in Atlanta, the Country Music Awards shows from 1991 through 2006, the 100th anniversary of the Statue of Liberty in addition to Academy Award, Grammy and Emmy award shows, plus the sets and staging for 2,500 television and film programs from "Hollywood Squares" to "The View". Of late, Rene is also involved in the designing of churches throughout the world.

Married to singer, actress Gloria Loring, Rene will discuss his creative process, dealing with withering restrictions, limited funding and the creative sources for his imaginative design.

According to Jan Skrentny, the series originator and organizer, the idea for the Visionaries Series came from his times in Paris where he marveled at the splendor and importance of the Paris "Soirees": an intimate evening party or social gathering, especially one held for the purpose of a particular discussion (art, music, design, philosophy, construction, fashion, entertainment, athletics, environmental awareness, etc.) that featured fine food, refreshments and spirited conversation.

Hors d'oeuvres and wine pairings for the event will be by Kathleen Kirk and Loren Harris of Casual Elegance Catering in Agua Fria. Casual Elegance The

Restaurant also invites attendees to supper afterwards in their intimate and nearby surroundings. A portion of your meal bill will be donated to Hospital Foundation.

In addition, Jo Anna and Rob Fainberg of Galerie Mistral Fine Jewelry Design of Agua Fria will have a display of sumptuous stones and finished jewelry; a portion of the purchase price will also be donated to the Hospital Foundation.

Proceeds from the evening's event will be donated to the Hospital Foundation in the name of Suzette "Susie" Newman Fund, a long time patient in the Hospital's skilled nursing facility, who died three years ago of Alzheimer's disease.

The next event in the series will be held in mid-December and will feature eight time Iron-Man age-group champion, Cherie Gruenfeld who will talk about her mid-life realization - that she yearned to compete in (an accomplishment in itself) and win her age group in the most strenuous athletic competition of that time. Cherie will share her training regiment and fitness tips that allowed her to shatter world records in every age group she competed in.

Presenter Jan Skrentny is a five time Emmy award winning Writer, Producer, Director who for the past ten years has been involved with Prime Properties Real Estate where he brings his high standards and unique creativity to the sale of exceptional mountain property.

For more information about the evening please call Jan Skrentny at 909-908-8520. All checks for the evening should be made payable to the Mountains Community Hospital Foundation at PO Box 2319, Lake Arrowhead, California, 92325.

Please do not hesitate to make your reservation as seating is limited to 40 guests.
