These are exciting times for us all and for me in New York and here on Long Island. First we have the Yankees winning the World Series and parading down the 'Canyon of Heroes'; then a new Legislature in Nassau County, L.I. promising much needed property and business tax reform; extension and expansion of the Homebuyer Tax Credit; finally and most importantly my Marriage date has been set for next September. Whew, what more can I ask for to motivate me. I need to edit my 2010 Business Plan right away.
The Republican Party has re-established control of the county legislature. Homeowners have demonstrated their fury at the voting polls over high property taxes and other tax related issues. The new legislature will need to reduce the tax burden placed on businesses and homeowners during these difficult economic times. What does this mean to me, a Realtor? Plenty! To have fair assesments on properties coupled with lower taxes all around, I believe, will stimulate the housing market sooner than later at least here on Long Island. Currently, Nassau and Suffolk Counties are the among the highest in property and school taxes.
