INSURANCE 411
Do you know someone who has had their homeowners insurance cancelled because their lender did not pay the bill? Due to high turnover in mortgage companies and loans being sold several times throughout the term, borrowers are at high risk of having problems with the payment of their insurance premiums if a mortgage company pays the insurance company directly. Most of the time, this problem can be easily fixed if the insured will just pass along the cancellation notice they receive from their mortgage company to their insurance agent. There are things that an agent can do to help their clients resolve a potential cancellation before it happens.
We have all heard the stories and seen the photos from the recent floods happening in the Mid-West. Did you know that at the time of the flooding, less than 9% of residents in the high-risk areas of Iowa and Missouri and less than 1% of residents in low to moderate-risk areas had flood insurance coverage, according to FEMA? And it's no different in Texas! It is critical for all homeowners to recognize that just because they are not in a federally identified flood zone, does not mean that they are immune to flooding. Everyone is at risk of flooding. Everyone lives in a flood zone - it's just a question of whether the property is in a low, moderate or high-risk area. So when getting a quote for homeowners insurance you should always look at flood insurance coverage and for many areas the coverage is surprisingly affordable!

Hi Active Rain Friends and Family! I did it!! I moved - Not only my home, but now my office.....
I recently announced that I was moving my family to Prosper, TX and now I have changed my office, (not broker) to Century 21 Judge Fite in Frisco, TX. I recently updated my profile to show my Active Rain community where I live, work & play.
When I first joined the Active Rain community, my office was in Mansfield, TX, located in Tarrant County and my home also in Mansfield. I grew up in Rendon, went to Everman High School and lived in Mansfield/South Arlington/Fort Worth, all in Tarrant County for the last 34 years. ( I know, hard to believe I'm that old! LOL!) I built a great business there, still have many friends there and planted roots for my family.
(I am just not one of those people who will show you the homes of the famous people who live here, they deserve privacy too, especially when they move to a small town of about 5,000 people and they have kids.)
A few weeks ago, my family and I moved to Prosper, TX, for many reasons...1) my husbands commute to work at Ericsson in North Plano from Mansfield was taking at least 1 hour to 1 1/2 hours (hello...gas prices), 2) we have been wanting to move back to "small town" Texas ever since we both left it years ago, and 3) this is where we want to raise our kids; where everything you need in within walking distance, you don't have to lock your doors and eveyone knows your name and looks out for you.
So, after a few weeks of getting boxes emptied, painting rooms, redecorating, getting kids adjusted to a new school, church, and friends, hosting my daughters 12th birthday party with 3 other "tweenagers"; oh, don't let me forget about the 5 stitches my son got a week after we moved; I am ready to blog again!
After the move, I started to feel my husbands pain of the commute, believing that I could still manage working out of the Mansfield office, by just going in 2 days a week. OMG, as my 12 year old would say, the drive is brutal!! (sorry Robert, for having to endure that drive for a year! Muah!) So...I changed my office from the Mansfield Century 21 Judge Fite office to the Judge Fite office in Frisco just a few days ago. While I miss my family at the office in Mansfield, I am BEYOND excited about joining the Frisco office of Fine Homes & Estates.
Although I planted roots in Tarrant County and always considered myself a "Fort Worth" country girl, it only seemed right to give my official new "homeland", in Collin County, the respect it is due and display it proudly on my Active Rain profile and all of my other blogs and profiles (no one can have just one!) After all, even a "Fort Worth" country girl can find peace and happiness being a "Dallas Diva" when there is sooooo much great shopping!!!!!!!
So, when you get a chance, stop on by and say "Hi", visit my office or my home or just meet me for a day out on the town shopping, dining or looking for a new house!!!
