Cold, Snowy Weather and Your Business

We have been having some pretty severe weather here in the Kansas City area. We are above average on our snowfall this month. The cold weather can put a damper on showings and we were concerned about it.Snowy Townhome in Kansas City area

Shoveling and fighting slick streets can sure make one crabby. Sellers aren't crazy about having people track snow and salt through their house. All you feel like doing is hibernating.

Well, who would have guessed that we would get a decent number of showings in spite of the weather! There sure are some intrepid buyer's agents and potential buyers out there.

One buyer's agent even shoveled the snow at one of our vacant listings. Now that is just too nice to be true!

FireplaceMany homes in the Kansas City area have fireplaces. It is such a nice touch when we are able to schedule a showing so that the sellers can have the fireplace going. It sets a nice, cozy atmosphere in the home. I think photos should always be taken with the fire roaring.

We are also adding listings and are looking forward to retaking photos when the snow eventually melts.

This is going to be the best winter ever. I hope yours is too.

We Like Gardner, Kansas

We've been doing some business lately in Gardner, and thought we should give it its due.

Gardner, Kansas is a remote but growing suburb of Kansas City. It is 31 miles, or 36 minutes, from downtown Gardner to downtown Kansas City, Missouri. Getting to Gardner is convenient as there are two Gardner exits off Interstate 35.

The population of Gardner doubled in the last decade. During the real estate boom, many new houses were built in Gardner. Thus, it is a great and affordable place for first-time and move-up homebuyers.

A proposed $200 million intermodal logistics park with Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway Co. would be a huge and exciting development for Gardner. Other major businesses include New Century Air Center and CenturyLink. The Gardner-Edgerton School District boasts that every one of their schools has been built or remodeled in the past decade and all are wireless.

Olathe, Kansas is only a 15-minute drive on I-35 from Gardner. Olathe is the county seat of Johnson County, Kansas. Olathe was ranked 24th in the 2008 list of the top 25 fastest growing cities in the nation, compiled by the U.S. Census Bureau.
