Decided to Stay Around

Just over a week ago I was ready to make a move to another company here in the area. Though some of my fellow realtors here read my blog and called to see what was going on. I told what the issue was and what I was dealing with but to make a long story short. My team leader Chet Hill and I work it out and I decided to stay. You see I told you all I have a thing for loyalty. Besides I started this business when I was riding the buses here. So I say all that to say this. I'm glad I'm with a company that cares about your well being. I thank them dearly and want to show them through my own actions that it's very appreciated. To everyone a the KW office here in Ann Arbor.... Thanks.

Local Real Estate Market Hit Hard By Foreclosures

02-09-09
Jimmy Graham

I read this headline yesterday about how badly the Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor markets are hit hard by the number of foreclosures in the area. Ypsilanti alone accounts for over 40% of foreclosures in the area. Homeowners with ties to the auto industry were hit the hardest. Builder such as Pulte and Centex no longer build in the area. Now we are seeing big declines in the market. For example the newer Subdivisions such as Greene Farms in 2004 homes were above $200,00. Now in 2009 homes in the area are down to $114,00. In this market intead of traditional home sales; we are now looking at homes where 7 of 10 homes are either foreclosure or subject to short sale.

What does this mean to our consumers that are thinking of buying? Like always it's great time to purchase. I don't say this as a sales pitch. I say this as it's a good investment. With interest rates being low and with $7,500 being a tax credit and not paying it back. What do have to loose? This is good market for investors and first time homebuyers. Just know there are good realtors in market still servicing clients and giving them the best information available to them.

Some these homes are distressed but there are some that needs only a little attention. Call your Realtor or give me a call for help or questions you may have in regards to buying or selling this market.

Yes we know President Obama is working a stimulus plan; he also mentioned it take a lot of work. In the meantime, you have an investment you like to protect. Talk someone that has the experience and knowledge to help you.

Hope this has been of value to you!

Happy Halloween!!

I know today's halloween and the kids are excited about dressing up and going to the neighborhoods for some sweet candy and treats! They are some parties and festivals going on tonight.

I want to remind you all to be careful and be safe. Some cities and counties have curfews if you are 18 and under. So be mindful of that.

Today at 5pm there is a Halloween Festival downtown Ypsilanti. If you have a chance to come and see the wonderful people walk down the street in their festive costumes.

No matter how you are celebrating tonight. Make sure it's safe!

Professional or Expert?

10-31-08
Jimmy Graham

This is something I've been thinking about for quite some time. I look at business cards, flyers, and websites and notice the words after each agents either professional or expert.

I wondered to what consider myself to be. I know to the public we are to be knowledgeable to the marketplace we are servicing. Though can we really call ourselves experts. Maybe if you've been in the business for more than 10 plus years. How about specialist? I'm not really sold on that either. I mean it looks nice on a card but it seems you are limited to one area or a specific thing. Which is ok if that's the route you choose to go.

When I look at the news and people are being interviewed they sometimes come across as being an expert. I ask myself,"Does this person really know everything that there is to know?" Without a doubt this expert can tell you what they say is gospel. Doesn't matter what industry you are in. I feel that the word expert is use pretty loosely.

Now with professional. It's something that some of us can relate to. A professional has a broad knowledge of the service that he or she provides. A professional doesn't claim to know it all but will get the answer or seek help if the situation or deal may be a little difficult. A professional would asks questions and not assume to give any advice that he or she is not certain about. Remember we are in the eyes of the public people they rely on for information( even if they do their own research).

I know some say well isn't a professional someone who claims to be a pro. Well yes and no. The reason I say yes is because someone can become borderline cocky. And I say no because you may have another person who is resourceful and get you the answer you need. Which one would you like. The reason I bring it up is because when we give our clients/customers/cusomers are opinion they are taking as it is. The moment they see you are not sure about what you are saying or doing. You seem less credible.

I like saying I'm a Real Estate professional. I don't know everything but I will find and research the answer for you. That goes a long a way rather than just blurting something random you hope to make sense.

So you may agree or disagree. Though which one are you? If there's anything I overlook feel free to add.
