If you have ever visited Charleston Proper then you know who Philip Simmons is, or you have at least seen his craftsmanship. Master Blacksmith Philip Simmons passed away this past week leaving 
behind his fingerprint on many lives and homes along the South Carolina coast.
It was in the mid to late 1930's when Mr. Simmons began crafting his artwork and tried his hand at decorative ironwork. Since then he has received numerous awards and he even has pieces in the Smithsonian Institution. Throughout his life he has crafted more than 500 pieces.
In honor of all his achievements and wonderful craftsmanship you can travel the city and see white ribbons marking all of Mr. Simmons' pieces. Today we took a moment to do just that, we had the privilege to visit some of his works. Here are just a few of his pieces for you to enjoy.
