32nd Annual Turkey Day Run & Gobble Wobble

Do you have plans for Thanksgiving morning already?

Well, if you're not already on cooking duty, then you could get out and run in the 32nd Annual Turkey Day Run & Gobble Wobble.

This run is hosted by the Knights of Columbus Rev. P.N. Lynch Council #704 and is held every year on Thanksgiving morning. More than 5,000 people participate in the race every year, and thousands of dollars are raised for various local charities.

And you don't have 32nd Annual Turkey Day Run & Gobble Wobble to worry about it interfering with your big meal plans for the day because the race starts at 9 am, leaving you plenty of time to get in all the fixin's!

This year, race week registration and packet pick-up will take place under a tent on Tabacco Road on the northeast side of Marion Square near the Embassy Suites Hotel.

The dates and times for registration and packet pick-up for the 2009 event are:

  • Monday, November 23 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday, November 24 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday, November 25 from 10:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
  • Thursday, November 26 from 7:00 a.m. - 8:45 a.m.

(Please note that there will not be any registration or packet pick-up on Sunday, November 22.)

If you need something for your active little ones, there is also a Children's Fun Run for children 10 and under at Marion Square directly after the 5K run.

There will be four different races set for the kids, all depending on age. The times for each individual children's race are:

  • Under 3 run 25 meters 10:00 a.m.
  • Ages 4 - 5 run 50 meters 10:05 a.m.
  • Ages 6 - 7 run 75 meters 10:10 a.m.
  • Ages 8 - 10 run 100 meters 10:15 a.m.

After you've given it your all in the race, you can relax and mingle at the after-party. The Knights of Columbus will host a post-race party at Marion Square and in the area around the Hall. Food and refreshments will be available, and they will even have Plain Jane there to provide a little post-race, pre-Thanksgiving feast entertainment.

So get out of bed on Thanksgiving morning and head out for a great race for a good cause. An even better way to think about it is that you'll be making room for all the goodies to come that afternoon :)
