Portion of Highway 17 to Honor Charleston 9

CHARLESTON 9 MEMORIAL HIGHWAY

State lawmakers have approved a bill that would name a four-mile stretch of U.S. Highway 17 for the nine Charleston firefighters killed in the tragic Sofa Super Store fire that happened on June 18. A local newspaper is reporting that a portion of the road will be named the "Charleston Nine Memorial Highway."

The stretch of road runs by the Sofa Super Store site on Savannah Highway in Charleston; the City hopes to turn the site into a memorial. Details for the site have not been released yet, but we will be sure to share that with everyone when that information become available.

Many locals, much like us, feel that this is long overdue. Our Prayers go out to their families and friends.
