Came across a story in the local paper today about Hope for the Animals, which is a nonprofit, no-kill animal rescue organization in Morrisville. They are trying to raise enough funds to build the county's first no-kill animal sanctuary. The article stated that they've raised $400,000 thus far but will need roughly $1-2 million to purchase the land and for the actual building. They're looking for a piece of land that is at least 4 acres for the sanctuary. You can make a donation at the following address.

Shadybrook Farm in Yardly is having their Festival on the Farm this weekend. Saturday will have the backyard barbeque challenge. There are over 30 teams from all over the U.S. competing for prize money and trophies totaling $6500. Besides the barbeque, there will be rides, games, crafts, bands, other exhibits, and I think I heard on the radio there will be a petting zoo as well. Tickets for adults are $6, students are $3, and kids under 3 are free. Sounds like a good time for those that will be in the area. I'd like to go but I'm not sure if I'll have the time over the weekend.
