It is crucial in today's marketplace, when buyers are not as plentiful as they once were, to make your home accessible for showings. Remember the key formula Showings = Offers = Contracts = Closings! Make whatever arrangements possible to allow the showings, because you can bet your competition is letting them in.
When you've moved into your new home and your previous home is still on the market, the temptation is there to store some items you don't quite know what to do with at the new abode yet. I urge you with every fiber of my being to resist that temptation. Sure you'll save yourself a few bucks on storage costs but will you end up costing yourself a sale in the meantime. I ask you to put yourself in the buyer's shoes as they walk through this home/storage shed cluttered with your castoffs, do you think the can ever really give this home a fair shot in their minds when considering their buying decision?
Make sure you are taking the time to shovel your driveway and sidewalks for showings. Nothing will put a buyer in a fouler mood than trudging through the snow to make it to your front door to see what, by the end of this arduous journey is the least desirable house on the planet. Don't forget a trip to the store for some ice melt too for obvious reasons.
