Yes, happened yesterday, history was made. After 61 years, and three cities, the Cardinals won a championship!

The delight in the desert is incredible. Even winter visitors and non fans are ecstatic, a championship at last. The last team to bring home a big game was the Diamondbacks in the 2001 World Series. It does not go unnoticed by this writer, that was a year of doom and gloom also. Isn't it marvelous how something like this brings everone's mood up?

The Phoenix AZ market area has been selected for a pilot short sale program.

The key feature of this program is that the lender will agree to a price at the beginning of a listing, rather than ignoring all attempts to sell the home prior to forclosure. The program currently applies only to loans serviced by Countrywide Financial.

Unfortunately, the lender will still loose money, shortsales will still be viewed as stigmatized by the brokers, and does not address the fact a seller will loose his home.

In a nation as great as this one, with a problem as long-standing as this, isn't it a shame the powers that be can't come up with a better solution? How about reasonable interest rate refi near loan value? At least homes would be saved.

Any other ideas?

Last night, 9/28/08, I attended the Sun City Recreation Association's free concert. How nice to sit under the stars on a warm, balmy night listening to such songs as Only You, Twilight Time, and the unforgettable Unchained Melody as well as many others. (digression, how do grown men sing falsetto? Doesn't it hurt?)

These concerts occur almost every weekend during the fall in Sun City, and are free to RCSC members (all homeowners in Sun City Belong) and their guests.

The October Sun Bowl Concert schedule is:

10/5/08 6:30 p.m. Desert Winds Community Steel Orchestra, Latin, pop, and island tunes.

10/12/08 6 p.m. Arizona Winds, an adult concert band, traditional band music etc.

10/19/08 6 p.m. The Orpheus Male Chorus of Phoenix, founded in 1929, 17 years after Arizona became a state!

10/26/08 6 p.m. Riders of the Purple Sage, classic cowboy/country sounds celebrating our western heritage.
